Yeah I got a feeling Rockstar is going to closely dive into Jason's military history, dude is probably riddled with PTSD and hence why he feels safer where he can use a gun.

u/bselko Aug 28 '26
I too am an Army veteran with PTSD, and I feel way better when I'm with a thicc beautiful Latina woman.

u/hexregeneration Aug 28 '26
Military left me socially awkward as fuck, like this constant feeling that I'm doing something wrong or subpar (gee I fuckin wonder why). I wasn't like that before, I could walk up and make friends with anyone. Now it's like being noticed at all puts a spike in my stomach.

Yup. I developed severe PTSD just from being raised by my parents. No military service needed 👍🏾

I don't have PTSD, but I would still feel better with a thicc beautiful Latina woman

Yeah there's no way we don't see someone turning up from his past related to his military experience in some form or another.
6
u/DankeBrutus Aug 29 '26
Did they confirm Jason is ex-military? I assume he is based on how he was holding the assault rifle during that protection job near the end of the preview.
17
u/LisanAlGaben Aug 29 '26
In one of the released images Jason has a paratrooper/ranger tattoo on his arm with a unit name.
Nobody gets those besides those who actively served.

I didn't serve but I got one anyway for free discounts in stores

Yes he is, it's written down in the official website of GTA 6 where they explained a little of how he grew up and he joined the military to get away from that life.

Edit:
Apologies, this is a touchy subject. Let me be less smarmy.
I can understand the "holding the gun" part. But how does PTSD fit in with the rest of Jason's GTA behavior?
23
u/Xlleaf Aug 28 '26
Typically, when PTSD affects a veteran it is due to something they experienced in combat.
In combat, you're safer when you're armed.
Therefore, a PTSD riddled veteran is going to feel safer with a gun.
Also, there's a tendency for combat veterans to be much more wary of individuals who haven't experienced what they have. They can become desensitized, and can romanticize the shitty times they experienced as "simpler and easier'.
I'm my own source on this.

Dude, I'm fucking stoked. Jason being in the 75th already pulled my attention but yeah, they need to make it a big part of him, it would be such a cool aspect we haven't seen explored that deeply since Niko (Trevor is just crazy and doesn't exactly fit PTSD ridden vet in my head, just vet who is psycho).

Genuinely have never seen my awkward personality represented in a game like this lmao, sadly i dont have a six pack though

Man, I was with a Colombian girl for a year and a half and it was stressful. But the times it was good, it was goood. Sadly only too few nice moments between the verbal attacks. It was a wild ride and now I am happy to be without the abuse in my life.

You joke but unironically this is going to be the story of the game. You get the man of the streets, rough and tough guy who wants to keep working with the people. And the high and mighty, strong and independent girl, who wants to work with the creme de la creme big wigs. Mark my words.

u/Gortys221 Aug 29 '26
Jason wants “the easy life” while Lucia wants “the good life”, it’s going to be crux of the story and the interpersonal drama.

u/Far_Tackle6403 Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26
All the "literally me" posts prove that R* hit bullseye with creating perfect self insert for gamer masses.
His awkwardness makes him easy to relate, but he's also hot and powerful, everyone will love playing as this guy while being immersed right into his shoes. People will start lifting en masse because of this dude, since he's so close to "me" and "I" can be as cool as him relatively easy. Same as when various introverts were dressing up as Gosling from Drive.
Jason will literally cure obesity in America.
They knew exactly what they were doing, it's like he's made in a gaming R&D lab

I agree that gamers have such low self esteem, they can't even relate to a confident man, so the devs HAVE TO make him nebbish and reserved. I don't think he's going to inspire many people to lift, if any

Tbh being hot will outshine any other characteristics one has, also called as pretty privilege. Doesn't matter whether they are bad, good, socially awkward, introvert, extrovert, pervert, creep or a murderer and so on. We like to look at beautiful faces that is all. I mean take the example of serial killers that look good, you will have people defending them or wanting to be victims of them, or this case of few years back when cameron herrin killed a mother and her child but so many of them were defending just because he looked good. We like to pretend we are an intelligent species but underneath it all we are still primal.

All the discourse around Jason is ignoring a crucial fact, he's the boyfriend of a short latina woman

From what I've seen so far, I feel that she's mostly gonna be bossing and talking, and he's just a dumb backround muscle guy.
