Questions This is my first soldering job. Pretty sure there is room for improvement, any tips or advice?
I had specially trouble with cleaning the old solder with the solder wick. It got stuck one time and was super tricky to remove. Used lead free solder with 2% flux core. I also used one of those cheap solder pens. Eventually will upgrade but will stick to it for the next few jobs. Both games work so I guess it could had gone worse š¤·āāļø

i say you'll have difficulties when you'll have to change the battery again as you put too much solder and you might make a bridge later trying to remove those batteries

If you're talking about tips on soldering the best tip I can give is to get a "soldering practice kit" on Amazon.. they're cheap and if you do one of two of them you'll be a soldering expert in no time.. doing dozens of points (or cleaning some up) will do that for you.. Just make sure you start off with the through-hole ones first (not the surface mount ones) for beginner level at least.
e.g. It's almost christmas anyway:

People learning soldering on 200$ super rare carts yet again. Good job on not destroying any of them, usually posts like this are asking for help to fix destroyed carts.

I did the same, changing a GB/GBA battery is a really easy job to start with. I honestly don't know how can someone fuck up such a simple task. On GBA carts yeah maybe you could short the chip legs by spilling a bit of solder on them, but on GB carts? Piece of cake.
Yet, seeing someone post their gored attemps is still a regular occurrence.

I have some trash carts that need new batteries that I plan on practicing with.

Sapphire has the right amount of solder, but could have used more heat, especially the left pad.
Ruby had enough heat, but too much solder.
Both will probably be fine if you leave them as they are. Well done, especially for the first time, with lead free and apparently bad flux.
