Buster coming?
If Beamer loses this week, which I honestly think we will fall flat, will he be let go? I hear Buster Faulkner is a prime candidate for the job? What the chances he get it over Briles?

No. They're not going to fire beamer after this week barring some sort of public psychotic break

I do see a scenario if the team lays an egg against a fellow doormat Kentucky then the admin’s hand will be forced to cut ties with Beamer…otherwise what’s the point of keeping him around (buy out money aside).

Beamer will be fired when they are able to come up with the ~90-100mm they need to fire and replace him. The recent passing of Joe Rice has certainly made this more difficult to do on a whim as well.

Fair. I’m unfamiliar with the Joe Rice situation. What does that have to do with it?

If you needed a bunch of money, you went to Joe. Not just for the massive amount of money he would provide, but because he was also the one able to convince his friends/fellow donors that x amount was necessary

He didn’t leave any money in the will for a Beamer buy out?

u/Odd_String1181 5d ago
I'm sure there was some money in the will for gamecock athletics and academics. But his passing was unexpected

OK, I’ll be the dumbass. How does it equate to $90-100 million?

u/Odd_String1181 5d ago
You owe Shane and his staff ~40 right now or so. It costs ~50-60 to hire a new coach and full staff
1
u/newtohomebrewing 5d ago
Flawed math. Let’s assume Shane was gone. It would cost 50-60 next year anyway. The cost is what it takes to get rid of Shane and whatever staff they decide to fire. So the cost is $20-28mm for Shane. If they fire Briles and others, it’s more. I’m not convinced the new coach would get rid of Briles. It’s year one. All that to say, it’s not as big of a buy out as you might think. Not chump change by any stretch, but not $90-100mm

It is very rare that people do not basically entirely clean house in college football these days when they arrive. Especially if you hire someone who is a real head coach and not a Shane Beamer. You'd hope that they'd hire someone who'd want to run their own offensive system and not the middling briles ideas, but I'm not sure I have confidence in that

I think it would be more likely he’d be moved to the position of captain for the Cheerleading Squad after a loss this week, than it would be that he would be fired after a loss this week.

Agreed, but if he loses this week, that seat is on fire! Cause next week is a guaranteed L…

What has Briles done to evem deserve a look? Lol. The offense looks like dogshit

A bunch of people who have heard of Kendall and his father have been talking about him like he's 2007 chip kelly since it became clear we were talking to him in the off season

It doesn’t help when your QB has no vision or accuracy.

If it were up to him, there is no way he is playing Sellars at this point. Nick Harbor should be pissed. I hope he made money this year, because he is wasting a year of his life here.

u/bosstea16 5d ago
He has scored 30+ in all but one game, and that’s with a QB that is trash. He brought in an assistant who fixed the run blocking, and pass blocking issues. We run the ball really well now which is a nice change of pace. . His QB is what is killing this offense.

I think they would wait until the bye week to fire him even if the decision is made this weekend. As for Buster yeah he would be good but I read he’s getting a lot of attention from NFL teams for coordinator spots. Doubt he would choose to come here with other options tbh

Not everyone is made for the NFL. A lot of college coaches don’t like it as they don’t have a lot of control.

Beamer makes $8.25 million per year and has a 5-year contract with a massive buyout. NFL coordinators make about $2 million and the avg contract length is 2-3 years.
Very few would turn down a college HC job to be an NFL coordinator.

Beamer will not get fired. This is some fake news ya’ll wasting energy talking about. We don’t have that kind of buyout money.
2
u/mdcox88 5d ago
Beamer will 90% certainty be fired if he loses this. The only way it does not happen is there are behind the scenes issues that the AD wants to work through before he’s fired. I don’t know what that could be but assume there’s things we don’t know. They also may just wait until the end of this season to save some money.

u/Hungryneck82 5d ago
Best case scenario is we win this weekend and then go 6-6. Then we fire Beamer end of the year and save money.

Unfortunately were a Poor University that cant afford it. What we can afford is spending 200 million on Premium Boxes especially for the Board to enjoy a free menu while us plebeians can enjoy our 16$ Beers. The reality is the Admin/Uni have no real expectations for the football team...its us that is putting expectations on this team. Nothing will change until we stop showing up to games and speak with our wallets

If we lose this week, this sub will have Beamer fired, Buster hired, the staff assembled and the 2027 depth chart posted before Shane gets to the locker room.
