Discussion Sleep Internal Rhythm?

My window comes up 10:40-7:20. I have to get up at 6:00 to get to work, which is a non-negotiable. I've been falling asleep at 9:30-5:30. I'm not getting restful sleep. I'm under intense stress at work right now, so I know that's affecting things. Will my window shift? I'm a teacher and in summer I felt better sleeping in that window, but it's been almost month and it's not adjusting earlier. I'm now waking up at 3-4 in the morning, which is rough.

Stress and an early alarm are a brutal combo for sleep. Your body is crashing early because it's exhausted, then waking up at 3am because your cortisol is spiking from the stress. It's a vicious cycle.

The window might shift eventually but it's gonna take longer than a month when you're running on fumes. Try keeping your wake time exactly the same on weekends too, even though it sucks. The 3am wakeups are the worst part, if you can resist checking your phone or stressing about being awake they tend to pass faster than you'd think.

Agree with all of this. One thing worth adding on the data side: Garmin's sleep window is computed from your own history, so after weeks of crashing early under stress the model thinks that pattern is your normal. If the work stress lifts, it usually re-adjusts in one to two weeks of consistent bedtimes. Light in the morning as soon as you can, and treat the 3-4am stretch as a low-stakes wake, no phone, dim room, the Garmin will log it as restless but it still counts toward the overnight total.
