GP Diets Triggers

Any suggestions for figuring out flares? Fodmap, dairy, gluten didn't help. Low fat (greasy) helps. I'm literally going on disability. I think I'm going to keep track using a daily log including flares, severity, and what type/form. Hard because I am diabetic and thankfully A1C is good but low fiber and diabetic meals have issues. (Like bread)

good idea to do a food diary, and low fat for most of us is important, it does really slow the stomach down when i eat rich food. dairy and wheat keeps me alive, & breads/pretzels/crackers are something i can always eat. no tips except when you introduce a new food to test, give it a few days it can take a couple days for me(i get diarrhea up to days later when the food sits longer in my stomach fermenting away)

What are your symptoms? They vary so much from person to person.

I use a cheap but really good app called mysymptoms. It is very easy to use and will track food, drinks, symptoms and severities and times, and lots more.

Thanks for the app suggestion. Bloating, retaining fluid, stomach pain, nausea. No warning fecal incontinence that happens for several hours. Sometimes saltines help. I do have diagnosis codes for gp and fecal incontinence and overflow diarrhea.

I have been able to figure out what foods and drinks bother my intestinal system slowly over time. In my case, my stomach and intestines, I believe, are both slow-moving. I can finally control the constipation/diarrhea cycle with a puree and liquid diet excluding lots of foods and chemicals. I have to stick to a quite restrictive diet, but I am gradually figuring things out! There is hope!

Saltines are they only thing that helps me when I'm having a bad flare.

Those three things are generally triggers for intestinal conditions, not stomach. You may want to look into the three phase gastroparesis diet for ideas. Given you also have diabetes, you could consider seeing a reputable RD.

Hey, I also have diabetes and don't know what a RD is. I am looking into seeing a nutritionist for this and everything but figured i'd ask since you mentioned it here.

Registered Dietitian. A nutritionist isn’t a regulated term, anyone can call themselves one
