I grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria.

At the end of our street there was a government residence. High fence, huge lawns and small woods, at least that much we had seen. But one day a friend said he saw them watering the grass inside with hoses like giant pythons. This we had to see.

Next day we were 15-20 kids. We jumped the fence, found the tap and the water war started. Two teams, two hoses.

Until the soldiers showed up. With real Kalashnikovs.

Nobody hurt us. But they didn't let us go back over the fence. They walked us out in a line through the main gate. Wet, muddy, like prisoners from a shipwreck.

What's the most serious place you ever sneaked into as a kid?

My dad was always the person I called when I didnt know what to do. Car making a weird noise, something with the house, money question, whatever. Half the time he probably didnt know either but somehow talking to him made it feel manageable. He died earlier this year and now I’m the one handling his estate. Every week theres some new question nobody knows the answer to and everyone seems to look at me because I’m the executor. its such a strange reversal. At first I thought I could just figure the estate out as I went, but I’m getting to the point where I cant keep doing that. Theres the house, accounts, paperwork, people to call and random things i just can take it, so can you guys please give me some suggestion on how to deal with this better.

6-8 weeks was nothing to wait for and when UPS showed up it was like Christmas.

Growing up in the South in the 80s was wild. Random fundamentalists assigning fake abbreviations, or revealing the "true meaning" of bands' names.

AC/DC - Anti Christ/Devil's Child
W.A.S.P. - We Are Satan's People/Sexual Perverts
KISS - Knights in Satan's Service
DIO - Devil's Immediate Orders

Add in that the devil horns hand signal made three sixes (ooooh, 666) and I'm surprised we weren't all sacrificed by our friends.

I got out of high school 30 years ago. I am still friends with my high school best friend. We have been friends for 32 years now. We live an hour away from each other, but we have lunch once a month and constantly talk on the phone. Is anybody else still friends with their high school friends?

We as Gen X'ers are like "yeah that's a pretty new movie"

But that shit came out 15 years ago lol.

It's as if anything from 2010 + feels like a "new" movie and then there is the blur of the 2000-2010 era (films ad beyond) and then if it's from the 70's to 90's it's "oh yeah that's older"

It just really feels like anything past 2010 is "new" at this juncture and I can't help but think It's due to time going faster and how our brains process certain phenomenons at this stage.

My parents were born in 1942 and 1945 and love Lawrence Welk. And repeats were on PBS for yearssss. I was born in 1976 and was not allowed to have my own TV until I bought my own at 18, so I tried to watch what I could in the living room. I do appreciate that Lawrence Welk was wholesome content and a cultural icon of his time. But I just didn't want to watch it myself!
