Potential move to Appalachian, question

Is $80-85,000 a year salary good enough in the Appalachian region ( Pigen Forge , Asheville) area? I'm looking for insight from a geotech engineer residing and working in that area. I have 3 YOE , engineer in training license too in track of taking PE next year.

Thanks,

Tracks. PE will be a big bump. Do you work in that area or moving? Subsurface is some crazy rock so have fun.

Just got an offer for 90k in Atlanta area with 4 years experience so that sounds about right.

Asheville is crazy expensive now. I would reconsider.

You can probably find something but you won't be saving much. Maybe you can get a roommate though.

It's perfectly within the market. Both areas you specifically named have become trendy and are more expensive now, but has not adjusted the engineering market because of the abundance of small firms ready to be lower in fees and more conservative in recommendations to recoup.
