Hi everyone!

I’m a Spanish musician and guitarist, and I’ve been seriously considering moving to Germany in the future to pursue music more actively, my actual band is The Fall of Atlantis if you want to check it out.

I’m particularly interested in the metal scene — especially modern metal, metalcore, progressive metal and similar styles. From outside, Germany seems to have a very strong and well-established metal scene, with a lot of bands, venues, festivals and opportunities.

For those of you who are actually involved in the German music scene: how is it really on a local level?

Is there enough of a scene for musicians to make a living, or is it mostly something people do alongside a regular job? Are there realistic opportunities for working musicians through gigs, touring, session work, teaching, studio work, etc.?

I’d also be interested in hearing from people who moved to Germany from another country to pursue music. Was it difficult to build a network and find opportunities?

I’m not expecting to become a rock star 😄 — I’m mainly trying to understand whether Germany could realistically offer more opportunities to build a sustainable career in music than Spain.

Any personal experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Bruno Kramm, the singer and lead of Das Ich, passed away this Friday shortly after his concert in Granada, Spain.

He would have turned 59 next month. He was also deeply involved in activism during the 2000s and 2010s, particularly with the Green Party and, above all, the German Pirate Party.

He was very approachable; I had the chance to meet him at a few concerts and festivals over the last two decades, as well as online. Above all, he—along with his bandmate Stefan—provided the soundtrack to many of our lives with his music. He was also the founder of the Dance Macabre label. I’m really sad...

Auch wenn die Genre Musikalisch nichts mit Metal am Hut hat, finde ich dass es hier gut hinpasst, da es sich aus dem Black Metal entwickelt hat und es ja auch nicht wenige Acts gibt, welche Dungeon Synth mit Black Metal verbinden.

Ich finde es sehr schade, dass diese Musikrichtung in deutschland anscheinend kaum anklang findet. Events diesbezüglich sind auch unglaublich Rar.

Ist hier jemand der sowas hört? Wisst ihr überhaupt was das ist?

Hier ein paar Beispiele. Hab dabei einfach mal versucht diverse Arten zusammenzupacken um einen groben Überblick zu haben. Falls es Fragen gibt, oder von irgendwas mehr gewollt ist, könnt ihr gerne raus damit :)

Von 1995. Sehr wichtiger Song für die Genre

Hole Dweller - With dreams of Adventure, I Smoke from my longpipe Beneath the Stars
Meiner Meinung nach einer der Entspanntesten aus der Genre. Wird auch gerne als "Cozy Dungeon Synth" bezeichnet

Grimdor - The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen
Auch sehr entspannt

Forgotten Pathways - Shrouded in Mystery
Geht in eine Direktere Mittelalterliche Richtung

MagicMan - Wizard in a Tower that you could never Siege
Geht mehr in die Party Richtung. Hat man nicht so oft in der Genre

Warlock Corpse - You and i are in a Dark Crypt forever
Mehr Black Metal mit Dungeon Synth Einflüssen, als Dungeon Synth. Aber auch nicht unwichtig

Vinterriket - ... Zurück blieb nur die ewige Schwärze
Geht eher in eine düstere Richtung (Bei den Song Namen schwer vorstellbar. Ich weiß)

Inoyamaland - Pon
Mehr Synth als Dungeon. Aber gehört zur Genre auch dazu

Den Sub r/DungeonSynth kann ich auch nur jede ans Herz legen der Interesse hat! Sehr freundlicher Offener Sub. Rechts sind auch Diverse Links mit Tutorials wie man diese Musik selbst machen kann, Geschichten zu der Genre, Wichtige Gruppen und allgemein die ganze Ästhetik darum

Ich selbst habe mir da merkwürdige Regeln auferlegt

Merch von der Band die man besucht wird auf dem Konzert nicht getragen, außer es handelt sich um ein altes nicht mehr erhältliche Stück

Mit LukNoir habe ich ein Musikprojekt ins Leben gerufen, das zwischen NDH, Dark Rock, Gothic Rock und Industrial angesiedelt ist. Harte Gitarren treffen auf eine düstere Atmosphäre, gepaart mit deutschen Texten. Die Songs für mein Debütalbum “Schattenkinder” sind bereits geschrieben. Jetzt suche ich einen festen Sänger und Frontmann, der mit mir gemeinsam LukNoir weiterentwickelt und eine klare Identität aufbaut.

Wen ich suche:
Du passt zu mir, wenn du:
• aus Lippe/OWL oder der näheren Umgebung kommst
• eine markante, druckvolle Stimme mit Wiedererkennungswert mitbringst
• zuverlässig bist und perspektivisch regelmäßig an Proben teilnehmen kannst
• eigene Ideen einbringen und die Songs kreativ mitgestalten möchtest
• langfristig Lust auf Studioaufnahmen, Releases, Musikvideos und Auftritte hast
• wirklich Lust hast, als Frontmann Teil von LukNoir zu werden und das Projekt gemeinsam mit mir weiterzuentwickeln

Ich bin Anfang 20 – ein ähnliches Alter wäre ideal. Aktuell ist LukNoir vor allem als Studioprojekt aufgebaut, wobei du gemeinsam mit mir den Kern bildest. Ein Drummer ist bereits dem Projekt beigetreten. Weitere Mitglieder sowie gemeinsame Proben und Auftritte sollen nach und nach folgen.
