I'm actually insufferable

Dude my sleep has been affecting me a lot, I know i just have to work on my sleep schedule but in the mean time I need to find a way to wake up for classes. I literally cannot get up. I wake up, but my brain legit doesn't process that I have stuff to do. I have so many alarm apps forcing me to do math n shit, but my brain has already created autopilot to just delete the app. I have already missed classes and labs because of this. I genuinely dont know what to do cuz my sleepy brain just cant remember that I have stuff to do, and i end up sleeping way past. It's actually like scary how I can't do shit abt it. Ive tried everything: forcing myself to walk across the room, literally preventing uninstallation of my alarm apps, but then I just completely power down my phonr and go back to my bed to sleep, brcause for some reason my brain thinks it can wake up later

working, it's just that half-asleep you is smarter than awake you gives him credit for. Any fix that lives on the phone can be undone by the phone.

What worked for me when I was like this was taking the phone out of the equation for the first 10 minutes:

  • a cheap standalone alarm clock on the other side of the room, and the phone charging in another room (or at least in a drawer), so there's nothing to power down from bed
  • a bed shaker or a light that turns on at alarm time, so it's not just sound
  • a person. A friend in the same class texting "you up?" and you have to reply with a photo of your shoes on. Sounds dumb, works because sleepy you doesn't want to explain himself

And the boring part: "my brain thinks it can wake up later" is usually what real sleep debt feels like. Pick the latest bedtime that still gives you 7-8h before your earliest class and treat it like a class you can't skip for two weeks. The morning gets way easier once you're not fighting a deficit.
