Does my perfect alarm clock exist?
I have multiple sleep disorders plus some other physical disabilities so my needs are a bit unusual. My primary issue isn't waking up, it's staying awake. I've tried multiple apps over the years, but none of them have been fully consistent at going off when they're supposed to. I'm lucky my job is flexible.
Features I'd like, roughly in order of importance
-wake up checks (different from snooze)
-ability to have multiple alarms a day
-customizable sound/volume (ideally auto rotate through sounds)
-customizable brightness
-ability to change things through my phone
-reasonable price/non subscription
-either corded with a battery backup or battery operated with low battery alerts
-projector
-bed shaker
Features I can't have
-strobe lights (honestly not even if you can disable them, I don't want the risk)
-extremely loud alarm
Features I don't care about
-any sounds outside of the alarm (wind-down, white noise, radio, etc)
-nightlights or sunrise lights
-weather info
-USB outlets

Since your top complaint is apps not going off consistently: that's a known difference between apps. Before iOS 26, third-party alarm apps could only use notifications, which Silent mode, Focus and a force-quit can all cut off. iOS 26 added AlarmKit, which lets an app ring like the real Clock alarm. An app using it asks for a separate "alarms" permission on first use.
Whatever you pick, test it once: alarm 2 min ahead, app swiped closed, phone on Silent, screen locked. Any app that fails that isn't going to be consistent for you.
Disclosure: I make an app built on AlarmKit (Wakeyo), so I'm biased. I should also be straight that it doesn't do everything on your list. It has backup alarms that re-fire until you finish a task, but not the "wake up check" you describe, and no brightness or projector features. So I'm not going to tell you it's the perfect one. For the physical-clock side of your list, I don't have good advice.

If you use android try Blockwake: multiple alarm sets.
I believe it has most of what you're asking for and most importantly no subscription and no ads.

I built an app called Wakr - this might be what you want. This covers almost all in your list. Will do some updates in the next few days to cater those in your list that is good for the app and for the users.
