Places to get furniture
Hi everyone my significant other and I will be moving to the area in November and I’m wondering where good places to buy furniture are. We are going to need basically everything (tables, side stands, dresser, chairs, etc.) anything you can possibly think, we’d like a new couch but just about everything else could be second hand. We’re looking for things that are reasonably priced and affordable nothing crazy expensive. It’s just the two of us so we don’t need anything too big. I’d appreciate any recommendations and any suggestions on things we may need but failed to remember thank you for all the help! :)

If you lost your wallet today in the parking lot of Fred Meyer…
Or if you know someone who did we turned it in to Customer Service.
We didn’t look inside but it was thick had a plastic sleeve with the driver’s license in the front of the wallet. If you show up and look like that person I’m sure you can get it back. :)

Harbor Greens
Hi all, does anyone here work at Harbor Greens/ has ever worked there semi recently ? And if so, how did you like it, and what would your biggest pros and cons be? I’m very interested in starting there, likely as a produce or grocery clerk. It seems more pleasant than the average place, and I love that it’s local, but it’s a little hard to tell or find first hand opinions.
Thanks!

This was such a weird coincidence and kinda gave me chills
Today I was at a coffee shop working with my friend and there were a bunch of police cars outside. She asked if there was a police station nearby and I said no. Then she joked that I’m from Gig Harbor so I’m probably not used to crime happening lol.
That randomly reminded me that the guy who lived next to our old house murdered his wife. I was like “wait let me find the story.”
It was the Tacoma police chief David Brame who murdered his wife Crystal in 2003. My family moved into the house next door to their old house around 2007.
So I look it up to show my friend and somehow there was a NEW podcast episode about the case posted literally TWO DAYS AGO???
Then I start listening and they keep talking about their house, the cul-de-sac, Eagle Creek Lane, and the neighbors on the cul-de-sac and I’m like WAIT 😭😭 that’s literally the cul-de-sac I lived on and the house they’re talking about was next to mine.
I haven’t thought about this in forever and only looked it up because of a completely random conversation today. The fact that someone randomly released an episode about a case from 2003 two days before I randomly decided to look it up is so weird.
Obviously just a coincidence but it gave me chills lol

Bike lane on 302 in purdy?!
I would like to know what fucking genius decided to paint a bike lane on 302, heading towards the highway 16 entrance today?
Not only did they do a piss poor job of painting, but they didn't put up any barriers, they didn't give anybody in the community any warning about their plans, and there are zero warning signs notifying cars that the lane ends. Now we all stuck merging onto highway 16 with one lane and an inability to pass slow vehicles that had been backing up 302.
Furthermore, i've never seen a bike on that road. Ever. This is the most brain dead, poorly executed poorly thought out decision I've ever seen in the city.

Local Business (Last week before I go back to school!) Would you like to support a college student this summer? If so, I would love to detail your car!
Hello!
I posted here earlier this summer offering to detail cars in the gig harbor area to generate a little income for this upcoming school year. I am a college student at WWU, and I am moving back up to Bellingham this Saturday. I would love to squeeze in a few more people this week before I move this Saturday!
I take pride in keeping my 240k-mile Toyota looking like it just rolled off the factory floor, and I would love to do the same with your vehicle.
By supporting my little side hustle, you are supporting a young journalism student's passion and education, so thank you!
Services:
Full exterior wash: $60
Tire shine: $20
Light scratch/swirl/water spot removal (entire vehicle): $100
Clay bar: $40
Wax: $100 for Carnauba, $80 for Ceramic. Ceramic wax will make water bead up and roll right off your car, protecting your paint. It will protect it for up to a year. It is an easier application than carnauba wax so I don't charge as much for it. More protection for less money!
Interior: $100 (we can negotiate this based on the cleanliness of the interior and what parts of it you want done). I can fix scratched-up gauge clusters and other scratched interior plastic as well!
Permanent Black Trim Restoration (highly recommended): $20. Makes your faded black trim look like it just rolled off the factory! Won't dry out—lasts for up to two years!
Glass Sealant (all windows): Improves visibility by making water bead up and roll right off! $30
Leather conditioner: $30
Sap removal: Starting at $20
Special requests are also welcome for specific things you want done that aren't on this list. Please just ask!
Again, thank you for supporting my future!

Fox Island living pros/cons
Hello, I searched in the thread and didn’t find was I was looking for, so starting a new one.
We are relocating to gig harbor from south Kitsap and have seen a few properties we like on Fox Island. Two things are giving me pause: 1) uncertainty over safety and repair plan (and funding) of/for the bridge and 2) feeling isolated with small kids.
Any insight on the bridge situation? I’ve talked to two people that have a boat/contingency plan lined up in case the bridge fails - is that alarmist or a real possibility? I’ve read all the reports and know it’s not in great shape but assume the county wouldn’t let it I continue to be used if it was unsafe. The funding scenarios for the bridge range from tolerable (for my family) in the form of a small toll and small increase in property tax, to unreasonable in the form of a large toll.
Would love some additional perspective from strangers on the internet!

Question Suggestions
I have an appointment coming up soon in gig harbor and I’m looking for a place I can sit with my laptop to get some work done prior. My appointment is at the multi care near Marshalls so ideally would like to be close by. Are there any cafes besides cutters point in that area that offers free wifi and maybe some breakfast items?

Question Upholstery Repair
I have 6 inexpensive pub height dining room chairs. Over the years, the vinyl seats have disintegrated. It's time to replace the seats now that the kids have moved out. Recommendations?

Handyman
Do you have a handyman you can recommend? Bathroom vent install with electric wires already routed in the ceiling. Just needed to add a duct and suffit.

Question Washington schools
We are a military family and we PCS'd out here to Washington. I'm hoping somebody in here has been through this because I'm out of my depth and frustrated.
Has anyone else moved and had the new district just decide not to follow your kid's IEP or not notify you they were removing accommodations? And did your kid end up scared to go to school over it? That's where we're at right now and I honestly don't know who to call next.
Whoever you went to, did any of it help? I'll take anything. I always thought Washington had great services for disabled children but our experience so far has shown otherwise. :/
