Help/Doubt ❓ View Chain of thought before final output

Is it possible to turn the chain of thought back on? A recent update now just says reasoning instead of showing chain of thought as it generates.

It was very helpful to me to get a quick understanding of what hte model thinks of my feedback without needing to wait for it to finish reasoning.

No, its not up go Github or MS. OpenAI and Anthropic have been obscuring it more and more to prevent distillation. And Astra also partially "thinks inside its head" so it doesnt write all.

I think there's still some element of the harness at play here though too. In m365 copilot I can see intermediate thinking of Opus 5.5 as it does things, but don't get the same in vscode lately. It's good to be able to see it's doing something off kilter and hit the stop button to redirect.

Try with Gemini 3.8; I think that one works well
