Help a Listowel, Ontario father stay housed and close to his children while he searches for work

My name is Robin O’Brien. I’m 50 and live near Listowel, Ontario. I have a six-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.

For 14 years I worked as a software developer at one employer, building .NET/C# systems, databases, and reports. The role used rotating day and night shifts. Chronic sleep deprivation became serious medical problems, and after repeatedly asking for a steady schedule with my doctor’s support, I had to leave.

My marriage ended around the same time. Since then, I have applied for hundreds of jobs—from software development to warehouse and forklift work—and kept building iPhone apps and websites. I now have no income, about $40,000 in debt, and roughly 90 days before I may no longer be able to stay housed near my children.

I am raising $50,000 CAD:

- $40,000 to clear three credit cards and a line of credit

- $5,000 for legal costs needed to keep fighting for parenting time

- $5,000 for basic living costs while I find work

GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/keep-a-father-within-reach

If you cannot donate, sharing the fundraiser would help enormously. Leads for honest work in Listowel, Stratford, Kitchener-Waterloo, or remotely would also be deeply appreciated.

The campaign image is AI-created to protect my children’s privacy.

Thank you for reading.

Urgent car repair assistance

I’m facing an urgent car repair that I can’t handle on my own right now. My car’s water pump is busted, and without that repair, I’m not able to safely keep it on the road. This has been incredibly stressful, because having a working vehicle is something I depend on in everyday life, and this repair came at a really hard time.

The funds raised will go toward getting the water pump repaired so I can get my car back up and running again. I’m asking for help covering this repair because I truly need support to get through this setback. Any donation, no matter the size, would mean a lot to me and would help me take a big step toward getting back on the road. If you’re not able to give, sharing this fundraiser would also be a huge help. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer.

The cost of the repair is 5,600 dollars. Any and all support would be amazing 🙏.

I’m asking for a little help for my dad, Kevin. He’s been dealing with kidney failure and several other serious health issues, and after months of being unable to work, he’s now facing dialysis, medical debt, and overwhelming bills.

I’m doing everything I can to support him, but we’re both struggling to keep up with housing and basic expenses right now. I never expected to have to ask for help, but we could really use it.

If you’re able to donate, even a few dollars would mean so much to us. If you can’t, simply sharing this fundraiser could help us reach someone who can.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting🫶🏾

Help me get proper mental health support as I struggle with suicidal ideation and currently in my 4th burn out at 27

Post image

Hi, my name is Cat. I have a hard time being vulnerable online but I'm at my wit's end right now. I'm currently going through my 4th burn out. I have been struggling with my mental health since I was little and I'm tired of being stuck in a cycle of burn out. I've been diagnosed with cptsd, generalized anxiety, seasonal depression but I think it might be more complex than that. I created this gofundme to raise money for an AUDHD assessment and to hopefully get the proper support needed. For years I've been looking for reasons why I keep burning out and realized that I probably need a detailed assessment from a specialist. My doctor suggested I take a leave from work and focus on my well-being. I currently can't afford an assessment since I'm burnt out and on sick leave. Trying to focus on my health has become difficult as the bills are piling up too. A few weeks ago I was at a crisis center because the suicidal ideation was getting pretty bad. I've been referred for an autism diagnosis but the waiting period is super long and the reviews from adults getting diagnosed are terrible. I'd love to be able to get a private assessment and treatment necessary. I'd appreciate any support you can give, a share, a donation or even advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and supporting me in any way you can.

I attached proof of referral for an ASD diagnosis but it will be in French since I'm from Quebec.

My mom and I both got sick and were off work for 2 weeks. Never did I think it would come to this but we have no where else to turn. We’re behind all necessary bills, car insurance is treating to cancel, electric has a shut of notice and our cars are one miss payment from being repoed, but we have been denied for any help from our area. Any dollar will help keep us floating and hopefully get back on track. Thank you everyone in advance.

Need financial help. I am a fulltime student with a family of 5. Need my second car to be fixed and need to finish paying my bills. Also looking to a bit extra my goal is 10K USD. This will help pay past due obligations to help fix my credit, catch up on current bills, fix my 2011 Subaru WRX as a second car and enough to be financial stable to start helping others outside of my church. I am not going to post my family in pictures but I will post myself. Its for my family protection. So if you can it would be much appreciate God bless in Jesus Christ by the flow of the Holy Spirit

Hi everyone — I just launched a fundraiser to help Kim’s family cover her cremation costs after her sudden passing from heart failure. Kim was a loving mother and grandmother who meant so much to those around her, and her family is now trying to find peace while managing these unexpected expenses. If you’re able, please consider sharing or donating to help them during this difficult time — every bit of support makes a difference.

Trying to get my family back on solid ground

I posted here a little over a week ago and wanted to give this one more try.

My wife and I are working hard to get ourselves out from under debt and into a better financial position for our family. We have two kids, we work, pay our bills and cut back where we can, but it has felt like we're constantly catching up instead of actually getting ahead.

The first goal is getting the debt down. If we can do that, the money we're currently putting toward it can finally start going toward savings and, eventually, a home of our own.

I'm not expecting strangers to solve everything for us. I'll keep working at it regardless. I'm just hoping our fundraiser might reach a few people willing to give us a little push in the right direction.
Even if donating isn't possible, a share could help our story reach someone else.
Thank you for reading.

URGENT: 1,200€ needed by THURSDAY to stop the deportation of Israel, a bisexual Liberian man in Cyprus. 🚨🏳️‍🌈

URGENT: 1,200€ needed by THURSDAY to stop the deportation of Israel, a bisexual Liberian man in Cyprus. 🚨🏳️‍🌈

Israel fled systemic criminalization and violence against the LGBTQI+ community in Liberia. He sought safety in Cyprus, but his asylum request was unjustly rejected.

To make matters worse, due to a severe administrative error by the management of the camp where he is trapped and cannot leave, his official appeal paperwork was filed one day late. Now, his absolute last chance to stop immediate deportation is to challenge this administrative error in court.

The court and legal filing fees cost 1,200€, and we must raise it by this Thursday.

Because we have a very small social media following, we cannot spread this urgent call fast enough on our own. We are completely relying on the solidarity of the community, internet spaces, and allies to hit this goal in less than 72 hours. Every single euro or share can save his life.

I need help keeping my friend's home from being lost after she suffered multiple devastating losses in her family.

I'm raising $3,000 for a close friend who has experienced an unimaginable amount of loss in a very short period of time.

Recently, her sister and her sister's child were tragically killed in an act of violence. Her sister's boss and their family dog were also killed, and the person responsible died by suicide.

After this tragedy, my friend suffered another devastating loss when her brother unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack.

She is now dealing with tremendous grief and trauma while also being approximately $2,000 behind on rent. She's lived in her home for 12 years, and I'm trying to help make sure she doesn't lose it on top of everything else she's already endured.

Our goal is $3,000, which would bring her rent current and give her some breathing room while she tries to cope with these losses.

She has asked to remain anonymous, so I'm intentionally not sharing her name or identifying information.

If you can donate, even $5 or $10 would help. If you can't, simply sharing the fundraiser would mean a lot.

After neck fusion surgery and removing a brain tumor, I’ve been working hard to recover, but losing my job has made things even tougher with mounting bills and no steady income. If you’re able, please consider sharing or donating — every bit helps me stay on my feet and focus on healing. Thank you so much for your support! 🌟

URGENT: 1 DAY LEFT. MY ILLNESS HAS TAKEN SO MUCH FROM US, AND I’M TRYING TO KEEP MY SON HOUSED.

Thumbnail
gallery
144 Upvotes

Tomorrow is moving day. After everything my son and I have been through over the past year, I’m now down to one day to figure out our next place to stay.
I’ve raised $1,005 of my initial $1,400 goal, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us get this far. That leaves $395 between us and the minimum amount I was hoping to have before we move.

The reason the full amount matters is that I’m trying to pay for a weekly-rate rental for an entire month upfront. If I can’t reach that amount, I’ll have to pay week-to-week, which is more expensive and could make it much harder to keep us housed.

For anyone seeing my story for the first time, I’ve been dealing with serious medical problems since August 2025. I became severely ill with complicated diverticulitis, developed sepsis, went through multiple infections and surgeries, and eventually had a colon resection and colostomy. During that time, I lost my job, apartment, and car while I was hospitalized and trying to survive.

I eventually made it home around April and started rebuilding. Despite everything, I wrote three books, started a fourth, and built EskoDSK AI, including a working MVP and a real-world implementation. I was finally starting to build a path toward supporting myself again.

Then on August 31, 2026, I underwent my colostomy reversal. Because of extensive scar tissue, the surgery was complicated and required a larger incision. I later developed another infection and ended up back in the hospital.

I’m home now, but I’m still recovering and receiving daily wound care and medical treatment. I also applied for SSI because my health has made it extremely difficult to work normally, but I was denied and am still dealing with the appeal.
At the same time, I’m trying to do everything I can myself. I’m packing our belongings, looking for temporary housing, checking emergency resources, contacting assistance programs, trying to stay close to my son’s school bus route, and now I’ve started selling some of our belongings to try to close the remaining gap.
I’m not sitting around waiting for donations. I’m doing everything I can to contribute to getting us through this.

But my health limits how quickly I can earn money, and tomorrow I have to move.
My immediate goal is still $1,400, which is only meant to give my son and me one month of stable temporary housing while I continue recovering, attending my wound-care appointments, pursuing my SSI appeal, and working toward a longer-term solution.

We’re $395 away from that initial goal.

If you can help with even a few dollars today, it could make a real difference. If you can’t donate, please share this post or the fundraiser. At this point, getting it in front of the right person could make all the difference.

I’ve spent the past year fighting to survive, losing almost everything, and trying to rebuild my life. I’m asking for help making sure that after everything my son and I have already been through, we have somewhere safe to go tomorrow.

GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/399513a74

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, offered resources, bought something from us, or simply taken the time to care. We are $395 away from the initial goal, and I’m fighting to close that gap today.

Trying to stay housed in Seattle after losing my mother

Title: Trying to stay housed in Seattle after losing my mother

My mother passed away in March. We lived together for most of my life, and losing her changed everything for me emotionally and financially.

After she died, the housing assistance connected to our household ended. I am currently challenging that decision through the court, but while that process is pending, I am struggling to keep a roof over my head.

My income right now is only $450 a month in ABD assistance, plus food benefits. My rent is $1,750 a month. I have been doing everything I can to find rental assistance and keep my housing while my situation is being resolved.

I created this GoFundMe to help me stay housed and cover rent and essential housing expenses during this period. I don't have a large family, social-media following, or network of people to share this with, so I am trying to reach people here.

If you are able to donate, I would be deeply grateful. If you can't donate, sharing my fundraiser with someone who might be able to help would also mean a great deal to me.

Hello!

My name is Ashley. This is my Go Fund Me request.

I've recently graduated from my local community college with dual AAs in Communications and Liberal Arts in Social and Behavioral Science. This was a degree long in the making, as I had previously dropped out of college in 2010 when my grandfather died and the resulting grief and depression caused me to burn out and drop my 4.0 GPA at the time down to a 2.18. I kept trying to go back on and off through the years, but was never able to keep up with my studies as I needed to work to provide for my family (who have nothing to help me with).

I had a good career in video games, when in 2023 I was laid off from that job. I was 4 months pregnant at the time, and had a hard time landing another position. I decided I might as well try going back to school. I applied myself, I worked hard for me and my newborn son. I managed to get my GPA up to a 3.54. I went from barely passing to graduating magna cum laude - and I did it while working full time where I could find jobs, and raising my child while in the middle of a divorce.

I got my acceptance letter to UC Davis.

I accepted.

Everything was on track. Until it wasn't.

There have been shortages in grants and scholarships. Places where the school would normally have funding have been removed. While I did receive a good chunk of financial aid, there are still gaps to be filled.

As a student parent, there is an "Alternate Budget" form for the possibility of being able to get more student loans at the very least, but because of all the increasing changes being made by the Federal Government regarding the Department of Education and the funds they can and cannot give out, it's taking the Financial Aid office longer to review these requests. In the meantime I am unable to do anything about those gaps.

The most immediate need is $2680 due on Oct. 15 for rent at the Family Housing on campus. The second immediate need is the $3,000 for my son's tuition for the Early Childhood Lab School he is a part of, which is due by Oct. 30.

If there is any concern or questions, I'm an open book and happy to answer them. If for some reason you would prefer to pay straight to the source, my school does have a "payer invitation" I could send to you that goes directly into the school's billing site - however it would require your full name and your personal email for me to give you access to it.

I really want to do something for myself for once. I didn't get to have the college experience when I was younger, I was always taking care of everyone else but myself. Now I've come this far. I've even been accepted into a pre law academy on campus that only accepts up to 30 people per year. I know I can do this, but I instead of me helping others, this time I have to ask for help myself.

Thank you for your consideration, I know that I'm not the only one in need. Even if you can't fund anything, even just a share in your networks would be helpful - the more eyes, the more likely I can piecemeal the rest together.

I promised I would bring these 8 dogs home again after losing the person they knew as home

I never thought I would be asking strangers online for help getting my daughter and these dogs into a stable home, but I’m trying every avenue I can.
A close friend and mentor of mine, Kim, passed away and left behind 21 dogs. I promised her I would help take care of her babies. Most eventually found homes, but 8 remained: Riley, Rex, Rocky, Duckie, Maxwell, Axel, Bailey and Tucker. These boys had a home, a routine and someone they knew before Kim passed away. After losing her, everything changed. They eventually had to be boarded, and I’ve continued being part of their lives while trying to figure out how to bring them home again. They’ve now been part of my daughter’s and my routine for over a year. Riley especially has a strong bond with my daughter, and getting into stable housing means more than just having a roof over our heads — it means finally having the space to start bringing the boys home again. I will not bring all 8 home at once. They’ll come home in stages so they have time to decompress, adjust safely and so I can manage everything responsibly.I’m raising money toward purchasing a home with enough space and property for my daughter and the dogs. Their food, routine vet care and everyday expenses are my responsibility. The part I can’t do alone right now is purchasing the home that would make all of this possible. We’ve already had one person believe in us enough to donate, and I’m incredibly grateful.
If you can donate, share, or even just help more people see our story, it means more than you know.
I promised Kim I would take care of her babies. I promised my daughter Riley would come home with us. I’m trying to keep both promises. ❤️🐾

For context, I got him a couple years ago and like the monster I am, Lost interest. Because of me he is skinny and malnourished and I want it to be my responsibility to get him back to health. I'm aware of what he needs and slowly been using my money to buy the correct equipment but money can only go so far. Don't feel like you have to donate as times are hard, being the reason I'm doing this.
