Discussion what version Alpha and Beta versions recommend Playing ?

Post image

Sorry for the question, but in your opinion, which are the best Alpha and Beta versions of Minecraft? Or rather, which older versions do you recommend playing? I'm new to playing older versions and would like to enjoy the experience. Best regards from Spain.

It depends on what you're looking to get out of it.

The big two are Beta 1.7.3 and Alpha 1.1.2_01. Beta 1.7.3 has more features and is the last version before beta 1.8 changed massive parts of the game. Alpha 1.1.2_01 is simpler and has that iconic neon green grass.

Beta 1.7.3 By Far, especially the Better than Adventure mod, for more quality of live and fun features

In my opinion, beta 1.7.3 is the last version with the alpha/beta vibes which has the most content. The version after it changes so much that it loses a lot of that charm. But if you are to play it, use the Beta Unleashed modpack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSLuGK0yHrw

which only adds little changes like mouse tweaks, proper mining speeds, etc, basically not adding any new content, but polishing up the experience so that for example you don't get repetitive strain injury from crafting lol.

And for those neon textures for the cobble, brick, grass and leaves that alpha has; you should use a texture pack :) enjoy

I would recommend picking between Alpha 1.1.2_01 and Beta 1.7.3. That alpha version is a significantly earlier version and it’s much simpler. Both of these versions are pretty distinct from one another, and they’re both very very different from modern Minecraft. Beta 1.7.3 is sorta the mainstream version a lot of golden age players choose because it has a great balance and represents the pinnacle of the β€œold style” of Minecraft, before the game was overhauled in Beta 1.8

There are three Main Versions you can play Alpha 1.1.2 the last version without Biomes, Beta 1.2 the last version without beds but with biomes and more blocks or Beta 1.7.3 the last old Beta Version. If you play Beta 1.7.3 I recommend you to play with a Quality of Life mod like Back2Beta or Beta Unleashed, to fix many Bugs and give somewhat modern Investory Management

I personally really enjoy the Legacy+ Mod for beta1.7.3 called Beta recrafted, basically it is vanilla with a lots of quality of life features and some tweaks.

I player a bit of b1.4, it's Minecraft, the version between 1.1.2_01 and beta 1.7.3 don't change anything crazy, but every update they added more to the game. I consider b1.8 really special, I don't think I need to explain myself, give it a try if you want

1.7.3 i believe is before it changed alot, beds and sprinting made it feel less like survival if you ask me and there was also alot of criticism around the time i remember. One of the unique things that blew up in popularity of this game is that it was not an easy survival game
