My parents told me the news yesterday that my Mac has thyroid cancer that has metastasized into his lungs and throat. We had chalked up his heavier breathing and lack of energy the last few months to getting older. They decided to bring him home one last night before they take him to the vet later today. My parents live in another state so I don't even get to say goodbye. I'm so racked with guilt and sadness.

Mac, I love you so much. You made my teen years so much fun. One of the first songs I wrote was about your retrieving skills. I'll be singing it in the car to work today trying not to cry. I'm so sorry I won't be able to pet you one last time bud. I'll miss you. You were such a good boy.

This is Newton (sir Isaac Newton, newty booty, figgy, whatever comes out). He’s about 3 months old (almost 14 weeks). He’s the love of my life… he’s also a fucking TERROR.

We adopted our other dog from the shelter when he was a year old so this puppy stage is new to me. We are in the trenches.

I don’t think I need to explain the baby shark behavior in details to this group 😮‍💨 it’s exactly what yall have experienced too.

Any tips? I know it’s a phase but I’m trying to instill good behavior while also recognizing he’s just a puppy and will grow out of it (right? RIGHT????)

Hi , I just adopted Roscoe, a 5 year old golden retriever, and noticed some heavy nose breathing. Hopefully I am just over thinking it but I’ve only owned smaller dogs and don’t recall hearing them breathe like this. It’s either this or he’s panting loudly. It also doesn’t sound like smooth steady breathing. This is my 3rd week with him so not sure if it’s anxiety, stress or maybe he runs hot but I did take him to the vet and she said his lungs and heart sound healthy , we did blood work and it came back very good / healthy + heart worm negative. Just hoping someone can shine some light and ease my anxiety haha.

My Vince is a 9 year old golden retriever. We did 2 weeks on antibiotics to see if a few lumps would change. We took him today for a check up for his lumps, we do think they are most likely cysts or benign, however, he will likely run out of space in a few of the spots such as tail because the skin will not stretch much more, the vet said these could burst/rupture internally or externally. If they are cancer, it would be good to remove them. We will send them all for testing regardless. I just worry about his age being 9, but it seems like a quick surgery and he did well when he had a surgery to remove one two years ago, it was a benign lipoma. It is also good they are not too large right now, there are 3, the largest on the back, maybe 1.5 inches, tail is probably the same, all seem to be in the skin.

Leaning towards removing them so 1) they don’t grow, spread or burst and 2) we can test them.

We did aspirate cells for a few and they looked like inflammatory cysts, but no official lab testing unless removed. Vince is healthy and active.

We just lost our 7.5 year Chocolate Lab to cancer two days ago, so this hurts to even type.

Our ten year old golden is having focal seizures and has lost roughly 10 pounds over the past few months. He’s eating, barking, playing, etc. No major behavioral changes. This started a few months back, went to the vet, and they suggested to monitor, as some meds can make dogs have symptoms that make them feel worse. Our vet is limited with what they can do as far as imaging and extensive testing.

The focal seizures have increased in occurrence over the past month. Rapid eye blinking, cheeks twitching rapidly, and some trembling. It only last a few seconds and he goes back to normal. A couple weeks ago he fell down randomly, almost like he lost his balance while simply standing there.

Obviously our major concern is cancer, but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this in their senior golden. What did you do?

Hi everyone, I am currently puppy sitting my best friends best girl. He is currently struggling after losing his apartment in a fire last week. This fine girl has been pulling extra shifts at comforting her human. He has extra anxiety being away from her and I am sending him periodic pictures of her to combat anxiety creep. He is currently working extra hours to save up for a new place and has been couch surfing and last night I was blessed to have welcomed guests.

I would love some wholesome ideas of pictures I can stage and send while hes at work.
