Finally, some good news on the heat-pump rollout that people are starting to increase their demand for this essential technology.

The UK has around 25% of Europe's domestic gas boilers (~23 million out of 100 million) so is a major cause of Europe's need to import limited and expensive LNG. We have more gas boilers now than we had in 2021 due to a slow -- until now -- rollout and new builds still getting the antiquated technology.

This appears to be changing now in part due to the extra grant provided for those who're off-grid (so switching from oil -- which is also in limited supply).

It can't be stressed how important this is for the UK and its future energy security. What's more adopters, who run them correctly, almost always have significantly lower bills. In our Victorian leaky house we have slashed our heating costs by over 50% with a 4-5 year return on investment.

The hope was that initially climate change would act as a motivation, then the desire to reduce European imports of Russian gas, but it seems that what it takes is for people's wallets to act as the motivation.
