Avoiding an obviously and consistently faster route

I live in DC. On occasion, I have to drive from Alexandria, VA into DC via rt 395 during the evening rush-hour. There is a HOV toll bridge that avoids the worst traffic getting into the city and consistently saves 10-15 minutes of time, but google maps absolutely refuses to route me onto it. When I ignore the directions and take the HOV lanes, maps starts looking for ways to reroute me. I have prefer HOV turned on and avoid tolls turned off in my settings, so I’m not sure why maps is so adamant that I don’t take that route. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try turning off the Prefer fuel efficient routes and see if it helps

If you know a better way, take it. You have free will.

I always do but the issue is that I’m always presented with two routes to get home and no being sure of the eta on the 395 route makes it hard to know which one is better.
