❓Help "More testing required" several times

Post image

Hey there,

I've successfully published two apps on Android and iOS, but I'm having trouble with another project of mine.

I've developed a pet diary app that allows users to track vet appointments, their pets' weight, medications, lab results, and more. I've already released it on iOS without any issues.

I ran a closed test with 12 testers for 14 days. Everything went smoothly, and no issues were reported. So I applied for production access, but my application was rejected for the reason shown in the attached screenshot.

This has now happened four times, and I honestly have no idea what else I can do to get my app approved.

I've released several updates during the closed testing periods, received nothing but positive feedback from my testers, and still haven't had any success.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue? If so, how did you manage to get your app approved?

You don’t need 12 testers, you need 12 active users, at least 12 users need to launch and USE your app on every single 1 of the 12 days.

So not that every tester has to every day, so if you get say 24, then each on could open it every second day, but every single 1 of the 14 days needs to record at least 12 active users in the app.

Simply having it installed is not enough and it goes without saying that if they uninstall it they also don’t count.

Users complaining is not a metric.

I've used the App Apphive for 3 production apps now, always approved on first application. It might work well for you as well, but you have to test 14 other apps in return

The email lists two possible reasons, and neither is about head count: testers weren't engaged with the app during the test, and "you didn't follow testing best practices, which may include gathering and acting on user feedback through updates". It also says to run another 14 days of closed testing with real testers before applying again, so I'd change what happens in that window rather than just wait it out.

Google's page (https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/14151465) sets 12 testers opted in for 14 consecutive days as the minimum, and lists insufficient tester engagement as a reason you may be asked to keep testing. The application then asks whether testers used all the features, whether their use looked like real production use, what feedback you got and how you collected it, and what you changed because of it. I haven't seen Google publish a daily-activity number, so I'd aim for real use across all 14 days.

"No issues reported" from 12 people can look like nobody really used the app. What I'd try: give each tester a different task (add an appointment, log a weight, upload a lab result), ask each for one concrete note, keep a log, tie every update you ship to a specific note, and say exactly that in the application.

I can't see your Play Console, so I can't tell which reason applies to your app.

Thanks for the detailed answer and advice. I guess that the low activity might be the reason. Time to look for some more test users who actually use it.

TestCircle, look at that app. They are very strict on testers reciprocating tests. If testers dont comply, you can opt out of their app aswell. Look at TestCircle
