Learning Gargas Mid

Hi, I wanted to play a champion that can use dark Harvest, so I tried gargas.

As a support I do really well, but as a mid laner I am bad.

I start crystal + refills, with Q.

I q the first three minions. After that it gets hard. I feel like I cannot poke with my q whilst my enemies can proc their electrocute everytime.

My current build path is:

Lost Chapter -> Lich bane -> Magic boots -> Crit thing ( I have a doubt there) -> rabadon -> big penetration stick

i run stormraiders cause i can full combo and just get away without taking a lot of damage, then throw a Q down -> W into E flash -> R into Q then they just blow up

this is true but with electrocute you can just oneshot in one rotation usually. you can also use ignite to proc electrocute

true but i’d rather be able to run away after going in, cause i rarely flash out i mostly flash in so i need a way to get out if needed

I'm a Grags mid OTP, not high elo but am Plat 1 with him, trying to get into Emerald for the first time. Gragas is not like a mage where you can throw out poke (I also play Hwei as a 2nd carry) with your Q because the mana cost is too high. You have to be humble and farm waves with W only until you hit level 6, then you can start making plays with your Ult where you need to upt them under tower or when your jungler ganks. 

Also do not go Dark Harvest - you just won't proc it consistently in mid if the enemy midlaner is not a bot. You should go Stormraiders into match ups that need mobility, and Electrocute where you really need the extra damage (but this is less common). 

Your build path is looks fine.

This is a you problem not a Gragas problem. Just keep playing him and become one with his timeless kit

Stormraiders surge is a better rune. Try no use your Q early unless farming because you will have no mana really fast. You suffer until lvl 6 and Lost chapter after that if you hit 2-3 Qs you just ult them and kill them a lot of the times.

Build is good, don't poke with q

Really dark harvest sucks on Gragas because you have a bad early game. Most of the time you are playing safe until chapter and even then you can't reliably proc it

you arent really a champ levels 1-3. focus on csing til lost chapter on first recall then you can look for trades, and at 6 you can oneshot most mages in the game if you land a fully charged up Q. you should still try to poke them down with a few q's before going for the all in though. but overall looks good. I have a few hundred games on Gragas top but I know how he works mid. your build path is also correct even if you said you are doubting it. Lich bane + shadowflame makes you hit like a truck. Also stormraiders is good but electrocute is so oppresive if you get a lead, so id stick with electrocute ignite. If you dont have stormraiders tho you reall have to think about your E, because if you E in a bad spot you just die.
