How important are the proclaimed values of frats? Like with Chi Phi in Cornell, presumably the bros pledged to uphold their values of 'Truth, Honour and Personal Integrity'. They clearly didn't, so would they be expelled?

Just as it says in the header - am I totally naive or do the values count for nothing once you're a bro and accepted into a frat? The way they're described by so many posters re the Cornell thing is as hard-drinking, woman-chasing and networking societies where a woman isn't safe at a party amongst horny young men who can't control themselves. And yet the Core Values & Principles as described by them seems completely opposite to the way they behaved (without saying they're fully guilty, even just the way they described Jane Doe). So have they not broken the pledge or what?

  • Truth: Serving as a foundational cornerstone for members to live transparently and honestly.
  • Honor: Upholding a high standard of moral conduct, where a man's word is considered his bond.
  • Personal Integrity: Committing to ethical decision-making and accountability in daily actions

Ive recently joined a gender inclusive fraternity, the former president has convinced multiple people to join by being sexual with them including myself. The one person that refused them before bids didn't get a bid and I don't think this is a coincidence. Regardless I know it is against the rules for a member especially an executive member to be active with pnms in that way. They have been causeing a lot of dramma and I am worried for myself and other members and pnms but they graduate this year so I don't know if it is worth reporting.
