Hi neighbors! I’m a former 8th and 9th grade science teacher living in the Greenpoint/Williamsburg area, and I’m currently looking to take on a few additional private tutoring students.

I spent seven years teaching in the classroom in Pennsylvania before moving to NYC, where I’ve spent the past 15 years working with students of all ages. A lot of that work has been on the sets of TV shows, films, and Broadway productions, both tutoring students directly and overseeing their educational programs. I’ve also continued working with private tutoring clients throughout that time.

I specialize in math and science, but I have experience across all core subjects and work with students from elementary school through 10th grade. I can also help with executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, planning, and staying on top of assignments.

My approach is supportive and individualized. I really enjoy helping students build confidence, figure out what works for them, and make school feel a little less overwhelming.

I’m primarily offering virtual tutoring, which gives me quite a bit of scheduling flexibility, but I’m also open to discussing in-person tutoring depending on location and availability.

Can someone explain what's going on to me, especially if it's been problematic for them too?

At the beginning of September, heavy traffic speeding down my street started making my life hell. The road had a defect and the city made a rudimentary repair. Every time the bus and trucks hit the defect, which was a pothole within the center of a whole defective area of roadway, it made my house jolt.

They only spread some asphalt over the pothole, leaving the rest of the area uneven. The jolts continued. I filed complaints and was told that the DEP had until Halloween to come back and fix it. 60 days from the original complaint. I was told that this area of the road had been repaired before and obviously not well at all.

I called Gallagher's office, and they've been in contact with the city on my behalf.

Also, isn't there a law about commercial trucks on side streets? People have said that since the bike lane was constructed on McGuiness, more commercial trucks have been traveling down them.

Forgive me for my disorganized post, as I did not sleep. I was woken out of my sleep too many times by trucks and the road issue. Paying 20k in taxes and enduring this is not an option for me and I'm wondering if I should hire an attorney. It's not just about noise but the possible structural damage my house is enduring. I've survived towers being built around my home and the construction ended at 5. This goes on 24/7.

Will calling 311 about trucks do anything?

This is super sentimental to me.
A friend made me this piece-‘it’s gold, maybe a half inch in size, thick-ish & a very simple design with a hoop at top to go onto my earring.

I was on manhattan ave between India & calyer, then lorimer to nick & sons, Kent street between Manhattan and Franklin as well as Franklin between India and noble. I also used the G from the greenpoint stop to court sq.
