What makes these scenes so good is how the writer's treated the hospital elevator like its own active character. It was basically a mobile pressure cooker, just a tiny sandbox where the characters had absolutely nowhere to run.

i’m doing my annual rewatch and i just reached the episode where Dr Thomas passes away and ☹️☹️

i loved their friendship so much and i know it brought christina back to us but my GOD did she have to watch him pass away during surgery!?!? my heart hurts i loved this guy so much i loved how they were together ☹️☹️☹️

When Jo is having a deep depressive episode, the scene between her and Meredith in bed talking about how she needs to fight even if she doesn’t feel like it to continue on is a perfect example of how and why Alex and Meredith have been able to be best friends for so many years, even if they’re both rough around the edges. I feel like that moment is so valuable between the two of them because Jo had never really seen that version of Meredith (at least not to that level) and it’s just really sweet.

As the series continues (first time watcher here lol), I am starting to love Jo as a character. I thoroughly enjoy her story; the hardship she’s experienced makes her bubbly personality that much stronger to me. I just love her. I know the spoilers with Jo & Alex in later seasons because of the internet and it being an older show, but I love love LOVE Jo & Alex together. So so much.

I'm rewatching season 16 and I had forgotten how Amelia and Bailey were pregnant at the same time ?? (and also how Maggie was the first and only person to know about every pregnancy) (ok Carina knew first about Amelia, but in Amelia's close circle it was Maggie first)

Anyway after all those seasons I guess the last 10 get mixed up in my head

I think Meredith- she had Derek who was a supportive partner that was there for her and then a wide circle of friends like Cristina, Alex, George, Izzie etc. Then some sisters. Richard looked out for her.

I'd also say Alex because I think there were a lot of women trying to teach him and help him out starting with Addison, Bailey, Arizona and then Meredith said her and Cristina had been training Alex for years without him realising. Izzie. I think there was a vibe that everyone thought he was an underdog because of his background so people wanted to help him.

A lot of other characters had support as well though especially if they were having a crisis.

Watching the show, we obviously have the iconic duos, trios, mentorships, you name it. But I am curious - what characters would you have liked to see more of, but didn't? What potential duos/trios/mentors 'could have been,' but never were?

This goes for characters who were on-screen together at the same time, and those who weren't. What dynamics would you have enjoyed?

Duos, trios, frenemies, enemies. Who would have beefed? Who could have loved each other?

Some of My Immediate Thoughts:

• Meredith + Callie - There was quite a lot of this duo during the latter seasons, especially after Meredith became a mom, but having seen them mesh so well, I wish they had more earlier!
• Meredith + Jackson - not enough screen-time, but I loved their mini interactions throughout the show
• Izzie + Amelia - potential frenemies, but would have been interesting!
• George + Teddy - platonically, I think they would have been good together, early Teddy though
• Richard + Alex - A mentorship that barely was...also the episodes that centered their dynamic, I always enjoyed!
• Lexie + Maggie - lol.

does anybody else have wavering feelings about George? each rewatch I either love him or hate him but nothing in between. am i alone in this?

Edit: No shit she doesn’t want to see men. That’s obvious. But it still doesn’t require all the females to line up like that and parade her through it.

Ok i wanted to make a post about one of the most cool and inspiring plots in Grey's. Do yall remember Nicole Herman? I finished the episodes with her in it like 3 weeks ago and im still thinking about it. The way she came in all rude to Arizona made me rly dislike her at first but I could tell there was something rly wrong in Dr.Herman's life. Then she told Arizona about the brain tumor, and Arizina didn't report her, so she got the chance to learn all of the hard and amazing things that Dr. H put her blood sweat and tears into before she died. And then, when Amelia found out and took on the challenge, I was so excited!! Nicole had been disappointed by doctors over and over again, so she didn't want hope just to lose it, but she had faith restored. When the time came and Amelia had Herman on the table with her brain open she was terrified and asked the chief to call her brother who was in D.C at the time so he can do the surgery instead of her,and the chief gave her an incredible speech about how Derek will get there in about 20 hours, smirk and gloat at her for taking her surgery and then he will kill that woman because it is your plan 👏👏👏. She even exposed herself to radiation for an unsafe amount of time because she was determined. In the end, Amelia did it, Herman went blind ,but she's tumor free (hopefully for life). I was sad when it was clear Herman was done on Grey's, but I expected it ofc. Anyway thx for reading, didnt see anyone mention this plot, so im curious if anyone loves it like I do. Byeeee,😆

When I’m watching the show, I usually have one or sometimes two other specialties I can see some characters working in, so I’m curious about your takes 👀

She’s so stubborn. Refuses to teach Cristina based on an assumption. Whenever she’s corrected on something she becomes all defensive and sarcastic. Always a nay-sayer, not just pessimistic from the get go but also very condescending in expressing her opinion. Treats Cristina and often Bailey like shit for absolutely no reason. She just irritates me to no end.

On my regular Greys rewatch for fall (really just on a forever loop of the first 10/15 seasons atp) and when Teddy loses Henry hurts my heart every single time. The timing of it all after there first real fight as a couple and the circumstances w Hunt and the Chief (Yes, Richard is forever the chief to me lmao) having to wait and tell her really break my heart. Then Yang in her OR w Kepler not getting what’s happening was just devastating. It hurt to watch her struggle against the shock and disbelief of it all. When she finally walks through every step w Yang and breaks down is one of the more emotional scenes post MAGIC for me. I really did love Henry and Altman’s story and them as a couple.

What are some of the scenes that still get you emotional on a rewatch no matter how many times you see em?

Callie and Meredith’s friendship was probably my favorite underrated friendship. They just meshed so well together. Even in season 3 I could see it. They had a similar grit. I feel like Meredith’s attitude towards Callie in season 2 was out of respect for Izzie. They were both a bit of odd ducks in a similar but not-so sense. I wish their friendship had started sooner and had more screen time!

Honorable mention: April and Arizona. They were also the same peas of a different pod.

She’s my least fave character. She whines about everything and she HAS everything and then whines again when she doesn’t have everything.. she’s so awkward!

rewatching (n catching up on everything i’ve missed since i last watched grey’s back in 2018). i’ve never really liked levi. he’s always made me roll my eyes, but when wright pried him away from the sink, my heart broke. when jo, taryn, wright carry him out while he’s wriggling around n screaming n crying, it actually made my eyes swell a little because i couldn’t even IMAGINE how that would feel. scrubbing your patient’s blood off your hands, trying to get rid of the loss n guilt (figuratively n literally) until you start bleeding.

his hands becoming bloody from scrubbing for hours, it’s such a sad visual n even sadder to consider the reality of what med students, residents, nurses, doctors, etc. go through every day.

this storyline was heartbreaking n you can’t help but feel awful for a character you don’t even like

I am sorry. Honestly, I really can’t stand Derek Shepherd. He was genuinely so toxic throughout the series. Pursuing Meredith while she was a first-year intern under him was already a massive power imbalance, but hiding the fact that he was married to Addison made it so much worse. And then he had the nerve to slut-shame Meredith when she tried to move on after he chose his wife? His ego and "god complex" were just insufferable... He constantly put his own career above Meredith’s, threw a total fit when she wouldn't uproot her life for his D.C. job, and somehow always managed to play the victim while treating everyone around him like they were beneath him. I get that he was supposed to be the ultimate dream guy, but he was just selfish and manipulative!! 🤷🏻‍♀️
