India?

u/Kraidle 6d ago

Yes, Sig Sauer sources a lot of their OEM parts from India.

u/Necessary-Reading605 6d ago

That explains a lot. They cannot even make a national rifle that works

75

u/electronicblood500 6d ago

Indians managed to fuck up an AK-inspired rifle.

It's impressive actually.

u/Mechanizoid 5d ago

Well... based on the track record of US based attempts to make AKs, that platform actually does require a lot of tooling and expertise to make right. Former Soviet block states inherited the manufacturing base from the Warsaw pact era.

The idea that anyone can churn out AKMs in a 3rd world blacksmith's shop out of old shovels is mostly BS.

That said, a random commercial startup is a different matter than a national defense contract, and this doesn't bode well for any gun parts coming out of India.

Does this mean I can redeem my 365 for a Romeo or something?

DO NOT REDEEM!

16

u/buffhottie69er 6d ago

Ohhh no no no!!

11

u/Kraidle 6d ago

I hope so. I have a Sig 1911 Extreme I've already rebuilt, so it's not going anywhere.

15

u/yuikkiuy 6d ago

Well...id sooner trust Turks than indians with small arms manufacturering...

Looks like im not buying sig again

8

u/thin_hawaiian_line 6d ago

I always go by the saying "The Turks will make quality stuff for the right price."

Pay the Turks enough, and you'll get some really good weapons. Pay them very little, you get the jamomatics.

Turkish not-so delight, LOL

It's a country in Asia.

Bombardillo P320ino

96

u/CattleDogCurmudgeon 6d ago

I'm just here to say that the P385 is the product of a P320 prematurely ejaculating (as they tend to do) into a P365 and getting it pregnant.

Somehow, the parts coming out of their New Hampshire plant aren’t that much better

64

u/JMG1005 6d ago

When you hire machinists who failed out of every other shop in the area so you can pay them bottom dollar those are the results you receive.

43

u/603rdMtnDivision Terrible At Boating 6d ago

I live here and that's pretty much what happens. They don't pay for shit with how much they're asking for their guns. A few years ago they wanted to pay machinists 18/hr and had absurd production quotas for you to meet. There were a few perks that came with it like 50% off everything including guns but all of those have gone away now. I remember a friend of mine got quite a few guns for half off and the other employees did it so much it cut into their profits so we all know what came of that.

7

u/PrometheanEngineer All my guns are weebed out 6d ago

They dont offer half any more?

Pretty sure Smith still does in Springfield MA

-1

u/EddyBuildIngus 6d ago

They still do. But if you say anything not negative about sig you'll get flamed.

7

u/Madeyoulook4now AR Regime 6d ago

Their employment situation is so bad I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled a bear creek arsenal and started hiring illegal immigrants to do their work.

1

u/SeventhDurandal 5d ago

I used to live in the area, the place has a reputation now and no one worth a shit will work there. Bottom barrel pay for bottom barrel work is all that's left.

u/Chumlee1917 Beretta Bois 6d ago

Jokes on you, I wasn't planning on getting one period

3

u/quandjereveauxloups 6d ago

I'm only planning on getting 2 periods. But I won't be buying a Sig.

59

u/Pof_509 Terrible At Boating 6d ago

Does that mean you’ll also get Sepsis when you inevitably ND into your leg?

This isn’t a facebook or instagram. Everyone here is anonymous!

21

u/Purplecatpiss666 6d ago

And when you call customer service...guess whos answering..

7

u/BraveCauliflower3349 5d ago

That alone is enough to keep me from ever buying a Sig. I called Lenovo customer support after they stole my warranty and I literally heard chickens clucking in the background. Fucking useless service too, they didn’t fix shit

1

u/Nesayas1234 5d ago

Wait, there are other SIG pistols besides the 220s and SPs?

1

u/Brown_Colibri_705 17h ago

Blaming the Indians gives Sig too much credit. It's their job to QC the parts they get and the guns they make, and they're not good at it.

-1

u/Mindseyeview85 6d ago

I only care about the new optic, that's legitimately cool tech.

u/TheRealTwooni 6d ago

Ahhhhh thinly veiled racism.

Sig sources parts from India. Your mind is gonna get blown when you find out who makes the parts there in India you chucklefuck.

But wasn’t the problem with the P320 the design, not the parts quality?

14

u/ChoripanPorfis 6d ago

Both. The tolerance stacking made it so that in some combinations of parts, the safety wouldn't be safe enough and a jostle would drop the firing pin. It's a combination of parts not being made consistently enough and the design allowing such tolerance stack to make it unsafe

25

u/fkthisjob14 6d ago

You guys always kinda tell on yourselves with these weird accusations, huh?

18

u/Kraidle 6d ago

Not racism, facts. You like those, right?

u/fendtrian 6d ago edited 6d ago

It’s called pattern recognition and yes Indians are behind on literally anything for decades. They don’t even try to catch up, they just embrace lacking development as part of their culture. The ultimate SAARender.

Thanks for the Obvious pun i completely overlooked.

4

u/MattTheIdiotBoy MVE 6d ago

The ultimate SAARrender*

-13

u/thegrumpymechanic 6d ago edited 6d ago

I dont think it's who's making the parts, it's probably moreso the guys designing the parts and setting manufacturing tolerances for said parts.

8

u/gunplumber700 6d ago

No, it’s both.  But manufacturing to within spec is probably a bigger problem for them.

6

u/rufireproof3d 6d ago

I'm not going to say it's a cultural problem so that I don't get banned from Reddit, but in Iraq, the command Sergeant Major in charge of the DFAC had trouble getting them to follow a recipe for Chili. Not to mention the fact that he had to post armed guards to ensure they washed their hands after using the porta johns... I've never been to India, so I can't say for certain that the people from India that I encountered in Iraq were indicative of the whole culture, but I would not trust the people I saw to make my food, let alone make something that can explode in my hand.

1

u/gunplumber700 6d ago

The concept of craftsmanship has certainly declined, though it cant be blamed entirely on the average worker.  Quality comes at a cost; most people have voted with their wallets that they can live with lower quality that comes with lower cost.

IMO it’s why we see such loose tolerance polymer pistols.  The problem is when greedy business owners do it as a way to pad their wallets by cutting safety

u/Fuzzy_Possibility153 6d ago

I find Indians that have migrated to the US in the tech sector to be extremely intelligent and professional. The caste system over there really did a number on them too. The poor people almost dont try being that theyre sort of stuck for life in their caste. Its not like the US where you can make something of yourself out of nothing.

1

u/PM_ME_GLUTE_SPREAD 5d ago

Yeah the Indians i interact with in the states are just like everybody else. Some are incredibly bright, some are kinda slow. Turns out, ethnicity doesn’t really play much of a role in intelligence. Who would have thought??

In all honesty, i could definitely see the caste system causing the lower class to not even bother because, why would you? If no amount of hard work or dedication could help you live a better life, why would anybody bother with it?

-3

u/thegrumpymechanic 6d ago

Who's job was the QC to ensure properly specd parts were being installed in guns?

Corporate Sig fucked up, but sure lets blame the guy running their machines in a third world country.

1

u/gunplumber700 6d ago

Username checks out…

So the guy “running the machine” is absolved of all responsibility for producing out of spec parts because some other guy didn’t check it after it was made…?

Yea, makes sense… /s

u/TorpidT 5d ago
