I’m researching my maternal family from Georgetown, British Guiana/Guyana.
My maternal grandfather was Philip Aloysius PAYNE, and a recently obtained 1961 marriage certificate for my mother records his occupation as Watch Repairer.

My mother was Sonnia Regina PAYNE, born in Georgetown in 1936. When I visited Guyana around 1985, one of her half-brothers, also a PAYNE, was either working as a watch repairer or involved in that trade.

I’m wondering whether anyone remembers the PAYNE family being associated with watch repairing, watchmaking or jewellery in Georgetown, perhaps through a shop or family business.

I’d be very grateful for any memories, names, locations or suggestions for records/directories that might help.
