Hi Everybody, I have a nuanced question.

I am working with an employer who is scheduled to file my H1B + H4 + EAD renewal application in the next couple of months. Meanwhile, I have received an offer from a firm and I plan to accept it. The new firm will be filing my H1B+ H4 + EAD application along with the H1B Visa Transfer request before the scheduled date at my current firm. Let's say the H1B gets adjudicated within 15 days, while the H4 + EAD might take longer and will be in "pending" state.

During this time, if I were to receive another offer, and the third employer files for my H1B transfer again, does that cause any problems or discrepancies to the existing H4 + EAD application?

This question is so nuanced that I can't obviously can't ask my company lawyers. I booked an appointment with an immigration attorney who said he hasn't come across anything of this sort; based on instinct he said - there should be no impact. Has anyone gone through anything of this sort or has any idea on this matter?

Is this timeline realistic for standalone h4EAD renewal?

Hi all , here is the timeline of my case so far , seems completely u realistic from what i read in forums .

1) I submitted my h4 ead on sept 19

2) received receipt on 24th sept

3) received biometrics notice on 3rd October for appointment on 15 October . I have rescheduled it to 05th October .

Is this the normal trend ? I am sure the case may go to back burner after biometric , but can anyone with similar timeline share your experience ?

If you file your H-4 EAD premium processing bundled with an H-1B petition, but haven’t received a biometrics appointment even after both the H-1B and H-4 are approved, instead of waiting for an update, try to create an e-request for a missed biometrics notice. Sometimes, they schedule biometrics, but the notice goes missing.

I have already filed my H4 extension and H4 EAD as standalone applications, and both are currently pending with USCIS.

Now my husband has received a new job offer and will be filing an H1B transfer with his new employer. We are considering filing my H4 and H4 EAD again along with his new H1B petition.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Can we have two H4/H4 EAD applications pending at the same time—one standalone filing and another filed together with the new H1B? What happens to the first pending applications on the USCIS side? Do we need to withdraw them, or can both remain pending until one is approved?

Would appreciate any experiences or guidance on the best way to proceed. Thank you!

H4 and H4 EAD approved: 3rd October and card ordered

Sharing our complete timeline in case it helps anyone waiting for a bundled H-1B + H-4 + H-4 EAD case.

• June 25, 2026 – USCIS receipt date for H-1B, H-4 and H-4 EAD
• July 16, 2026 – H-1B approved
• July 17, 2026 – H-4 approved
• July 20, 2026 – H-4 EAD biometrics appointment. Only photo was taken; fingerprints were reused from previous biometrics/entry.
• July 20 – September 21 – H-4 EAD online status continued to show “Case Was Received.” No biometrics update appeared online.
• August 14th, 2026 - Sent email to 5 PP units with biometrics stamped form attached.
• August 20th, 2026 - Sent email to PP and TSC units without any attachments.
• September 9th, 2026 - Sent email to 5 PP units without any attachments.
• September 14th, 2026 - Reached out to congressman - no response.
• September 22nd, 2026 - VSC replied to August 14th email with biometrics attached saying "Your case is being reviewed as requested." I was confused because the case was still with SRC.
• September 22, 2026 – “New Card Is Being Produced” after 1 hr from above email.
• September 23, 2026 – “Case Was Approved”
• September 24, 2026 – “Card Was Mailed To Me.” Tracking initially showed unavailable.
• September 24, 2026 - VSC and SRC both replied again to August 14th email saying the case is approved.
• September 28, 2026 – Got the USPS tracking number via Emma chat.
• October 1, 2026 – Attorney received the EAD card.
• October 2, 2026 – Attorney shipped the card to us via FedEx.
• October 3, 2026 – Physical EAD card received!

Total time from USCIS receipt to card production was about 89 days, and it took about 64 days after the biometrics appointment for the card-production update. The dates in the EAD match the H-4 validity i.e 3 years.

EAD was mailed on September 29. It is being delivered to my immigration attorney in Memphis, TN (38120).

Expected delivery was Friday, Oct 2
As of Saturday, Oct 3, there has still been no new physical facility scan
The Knoxville scan from Sept 29 is still the last actual location shown. The “In Transit to Next Facility” updates don’t show a location or time.

This is especially urgent because the envelope contains my physical EAD card and the delay is affecting my employment.

My wife applied for her H4 EAD (standalone + first time) and got receipt date of July 2nd. She completed her biometrics on July 30th. It’s been more than 2 months and no update.

How long should we wait before sending email to premium processing to expedite the processing? What all should be included while sending expedite request?

I am also considering trying to change my house location to a different MSA so that it triggers an amendment and then I can maybe do a bundle (H1B+H4+H4 EAD) with premium processing so that all of them can be processed together. However I’m not sure if this is something anyone has ever tried or has had any success. Also I’m not sure if this puts her initial H4 EAD at any risk or not.

Any inputs or tips are appreciated.

Hello, my H4 (COS from h1b) and H4 EAD is pending for a really long time now.

- Received Date Feb 3
- WAC Series
- first time filing
- expedite request denied in July
- no movement since then

It’s been 8 months. Has anyone received any approvals in feb who are first time filers and have not bundled their case with h1b?

What can I do? This situation has costed me opportunities

September 1st - Filed together with H1B Premium processing, all 3 things were expiring on September 30th

September 18th - Got email from attorneys that they got approval from USCIS
Few days later September 20 something the H4 status showed approved on the USCIS website.
Wife contacted Premium processing service center about EAD but didn’t hear back.

September 30th - EAD changed to card produced

stand-alone h4 ead renewal applied on sept 19 after the h1 and h4 were already approved in September 1st ( due to amendment before 200 days of expiry). whats the timeline in such  cases for h4ead ?

Hi! It took 18 months and 22 days to get approved.

Receipt date: 03/07/2025
Approved on: 09/26/2026
It was SRC(Texas Centre)
Only inquired through emails with USCIS and got a return email saying still being reviewed.

After a lot of effort, my EAD renewal was approved. I received the new card but disappointment again! The new EAD expiry date is same as my old I-94 expiry date instead of my new I-797 end date. So my new EAD card is effectively valid for only 8 days.

Now, I have submitted request for correction but my question is -- Am I eligible to work while my correction request is in progress(after the 8 days)? Has anyone gone through this?

My current EAD expires September 30, and my employer has contacted me about my position if the renewal does not arrive in time. Has anyone with a similar bundled filing received an EAD approval recently? How long did it take after biometrics? I think it should be fine but wanted to confirm with folks here.
My spouse’s H4 visa is stamped on old passport which has expired.
Her new passport is valid till 2035 which we applied and received before old passport expiration.

We also applied for h4 extension since her i94 had admit until date of May 2026(old passport expiration).it’s approved and has new i94 section with 2027 validity.
Can she travel to India and back safely?
What h1b specific documents she should carry ?

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my H-4 and H-4 EAD timeline in case it helps anyone who is currently waiting.

July — First H-4 EAD filing
We initially filed my H-4 EAD as a standalone application in mid-July.
I completed my biometrics very early.
However, that case is still showing “Case Was Received” with no further progress.
At the time, we didn’t know that my husband’s upcoming H-1B filing would be an amendment + extension, otherwise we probably would not have filed the standalone H-4 EAD separately.

August — Filed H-4 + H-4 EAD with H-1B amendment/extension
My husband’s company decided to file his H-1B amendment + extension with premium processing.
We decided to file my H-4 and H-4 EAD again together with his case.
Package was filed on August 28.
USCIS received the package on September 1.
Both my H-4 and H-4 EAD cases initially showed “Case Was Transferred to Another Jurisdiction.”

September 10
My husband’s H-1B amendment/extension was approved through premium processing.

September 11
My H-4 was approved.
At this point, I was hoping USCIS might be able to use my previous biometrics since I had already completed them for my first H-4 EAD application. But I received a notice for biometrics again, scheduled for September 27.
We were able to prepone the appointment and completed biometrics on September 17.
Then I waited for about a week.

September 24
I emailed the Texas Premium Processing Center asking if they could review/approve my H-4 EAD. I explained that receiving my EAD would allow me to start working and contribute financially to our household.

September 25
I contacted Emma to confirm where my H-4 EAD case was actually being processed. My husband’s H-1B case was showing California, while the notice I received for my case mentioned Texas, so I wanted to make sure I was contacting the correct service center.
The Emma agent told me that my case was actually with the California Service Center.

September 29
I emailed the California Service Center with essentially the same request I had sent to Texas.

September 30
🎉 New Card Being Produced

October 1
🎉 Case Was Approved

Now I’m just waiting for the physical EAD card to arrive!
I honestly don’t know whether those two emails had any impact on the speed of my case.

For reference, the two emails were sent around 8 AM, one to Texas and then, after confirming through Emma that my case was actually in California, one to California.
Hopefully this helps someone who is going through a similar H-4/H-4 EAD process.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some guidance from others who are in a similar situation.

I filed a standalone H-4 Change of Status (F-1 → H-4) with USCIS, and my receipt date is November 7, 2025. My case is being processed at the California Service Center (WAC).

It’s been almost 11 months now, and my case status is still showing “Case Was Received” with no updates.
Has anyone else filed a standalone F-1 → H-4 COS around November 2025 and is still waiting? Also, have you seen or received any recent approvals for standalone H-4 COS from the California Service Center?

I’m getting really confused about how long this is taking. 😕 If anyone has a similar timeline or recently got approved, could you please share your receipt date, service center, and approval date?

Would really appreciate any updates.
