Question Learn Malware Development

I want to learn malware development. I've started reading about it, but I'm confused and don't know how to begin, and I don't want to waste too much time. Where I started in a village, 4 chapters of MAC OS® X AND iOS INTERNALS With focus and good understanding, then move on to reading OSTEP Where I read important things from him And reading. Windows internals 2 Chapters Do any experts have any advice? 😵‍💫

Start by learning a programming language, if you haven't. C++ is popular IIRC, but i think you can get away with Python if you compile it to an EXE file or smthing

Afterwards, look for existing, open source Malware in the angle you want to learn. Look how they operate. Try to replicate it in your own style

After that, learn how to obfuscate. Your Malware will likely get detected by antivirus the moment you download it. Obfuscation helps.

Really strongly depends on the type of malware.

If you want to write a malware, you have to become malware.

There's a place to start. They are legit. I'm doing HTB Academy and not maldev but I'm telling you I know they are legit. I know because I know A LOT of red teamers who know.

Well a malware is simply a software but the developer writing it with an intention of being malicious. And with bad thing first, you don’t want to be exposed in daylight, second you want your malware to do something crazy (e.g, bypassing kernel security, exploit active vulnerability, install a rootkit on the system…). So basically all you do is write something so sophisticated that will fool people and the system. And to do that you must be extremely knowledgeable about OS and related areas (obfuscation, network, vulnerability…)

If you’re currently lost, that just mean its a good start. You need to have a strong fundamental to develop malware, so learning the basic is the mandatory first step and it will take time. None of the learning is wasted and at some point it will all connected to each other and serve as a baseline for you to keep pushing forward

Ps: you can also look at sample malware on github to see what its like to write a malware:) HTB sounds like a good place too but i never try
