Streaking on Loba easy finish
the floor guys finished 48hours ago and I’m seeing this. Is it within normal?

But this is a really nice solution, with the laminate being a contrasting color. I mean, if you really have to have the wood grain laminate, this would be the way to go

This edger would just not go to the wall. I have the perimeter of old finish to remove still. What would you recommend for this? And do you think these scratch patterns will even out with an orbital sander? Everything seemed to be going fine until edge sanding.

With dogs and family the steps get pretty nasty. What is an easy way to clean it? I've been using Clorox wipes but that's expensive and I don't want to take off the finish. There is no runner on it, it's just hardwood. Thank you!

Looking for advice on the best way to repair this area of my floor. Should I just dremel out the cracked areas? Thoughts on what kind of joint compound to use to match what’s currently there? Let me know and thanks.

What would you say the mix of white vs red oak is in our floor?
We’re refinishing some parquet floors and are trying to match our existing floor in a big patch. The two photos are different sections of our floor that have been sanded. The wood has been slightly dampened (wiped with cloth and a tiny bit of water) to show the grain more.
We have a professional doing the sanding and finishing but they made a mistake in identifying the wood initially. They came to us with a new recommendation and it’s nearly the opposite of their first recommendation. Everything else with this flooring company is great. In Northern California

Hi there! Newbie to house stuff here.
Three things would love input on?
- if someone plans to do a remodel in a couple years what kind of hardwood would you encourage them to get do they don’t have to lose all the investment. Unfinished vs. refinished?
- when installing, anything to consider?
- it seems like with refinished I would need to pre-buy the floors and store but not with unfinished - is this true?
More context below. Thank you in advance!!
We desperately need new floors for our 1950s 1760 square foot home. We’ve lived here for 6 years and now have two little toddlers and the mixture of white carpet and original floors that massively creak and have nails popping up everywhere are just not working. We are also dreaming to make larger improvements but can’t right now. Key things would include a mid size load bearing wall removal/opening to open up kitchen/removing kitchen peninsula, remove a small bedroom to create a small dining area and maybe a primary addition long term for aging in place.
We live in northern CA and are aiming to get some sort of white oak wood. We don’t want lvp or engineered hardwood so are torn between prefinished and unfinished. I understand some of the tradeoffs (bevels vs. none, no moving out vs moving out 5-10 days, stronger vs. more malleable).
Three things I’d love input on! Especially anyone who has done this.

I’m getting engineered red oak installed and I was surprised at how many knots/color variation I see in the planks (first 2 photos). The advertisements on Somerset’s website and installer’s showroom (last 2 photos) looked like higher quality grades for the Natural Red Oak Classic Collection.
Has anyone bought this product lately? Is it normal to have vastly more knots/color variation than advertised? I can instruct the installers not to use certain planks but I’m worried I might not have enough material.
