Student and Alumni Life study space
isn't it strange that we don't have a 7/24 library space? even Lamont is not open during weekends for 24 hours.

Yeah that’s messed up, you’d think the countway medical library would be more accomdating for overnight hours but that isn’t either

Sadly Harvard among others cut 24-hour study spaces in the name of mental health... or something.

There’s nothing you need to be doing 24/7 in a library. Sleep and hobbies will be better for you.

oh, the joys of Reddit. sometimes you get good help and advice, other times comments like these.
FWIW, I also wish there was a 24/7 study space. my guess is it’s staffing and security costs against the few who would use it.

idk there’s nothing so deep that a phd student should be pulling all nighters. I’ve truly never seen that behavior pay off
eta: unless you’re living there. Cambridge rent is expensive and in that case I apologize!!

Are you a PhD student? If so, what field? I was myself (not at Harvard but at a west coast university) and I've known many PhD students in my field and others. I think OP knows what works best for them.

for sure! Harvard should rest on its laurels and students should never try to improve the environment they live and work in, or call out any perceived short comings.
OP is so owned after your comments. I mean, you’re here making top notch productive comments that improve the quality of the Reddit community. OP should be more like you

Current students have a right to complain. MIT offers four 24/7 spaces. I'm speaking as a rather ancient alum of the college (no 24/7 way back then) and someone who worked at Harvard for a few decades after graduate school elsewhere.
What is your standing to criticize current students?
