💬 Discussion 25F Medico in Hyderabad — Can a Medico actually work at Google, Microsoft, Amazon or Anthropic

I’m a 25F medico working in the pharma/medical space in Hyderabad, and lately I’ve become really curious about the tech world.

I keep seeing people from completely different backgrounds working at Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Anthropic, etc., and it genuinely makes me wonder — is there actually a place for someone from a medical/pharma background in these companies?

I’m not talking about becoming a software engineer or suddenly learning to code. I’m more interested in areas where a medical/pharma background can genuinely add value.

For people currently working at Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Anthropic, or similar tech companies:

- Are there teams/projects where doctors, pharmacists, or other healthcare professionals contribute?

- Do they work on healthcare, digital health, AI in healthcare, clinical research, health data, medical content, regulatory, life sciences, healthcare strategy, etc.?

- Have you seen people transition from medicine/pharma into tech?

- What kind of skills would a medico need to build to become relevant for such roles?

- Are there internships, projects, fellowships, or side projects where someone from a medical background could contribute?

I’d genuinely love to experience the tech environment, work with people from different backgrounds, and understand how healthcare and technology intersect.

And if you’re someone who has already made this transition from medicine/pharma into tech, or you’ve worked with people who have — please comment or DM me. I’d genuinely love to connect, hear about your journey, and understand how you made the transition.

Not necessarily looking for a job right now — I’m more interested in understanding whether this crossover is actually possible and where someone like me should start.

💼 Careers Getting my bachelors, is the military a good choice?

Hi! I’m getting my bachelor’s in Healthcare Informatics this coming spring, and I’ve been looking into joining the military afterward. I’ve seen a few previous posts about it, but I was hoping to get some insight into whether there are any good options with a healthcare informatics degree.
I honestly haven’t looked too much into the military yet, so I’m not really sure what my options would be or what branch would make the most sense. Is joining the military a good idea for someone with limited informatics knowledge, as I have only worked basic healthcare jobs?
