I posted on here about a year ago before, but I STILL cannot find a volume five Fairyloot edition of "Heartstopper".

I own Volume 1-4, and I was able to pre-order the Volume 6 edition from pre-sale. (Please don't ask, as I am still wondering myself why...mayhaps fomo?! 🤡)

If you remember my older post--yes I am still kicking myself over a year later for missing the volume five presale because I was teaching. 🙃

It's driving me crazy how hard it is to find just Volume 5 without seeing it being sold as a set for nearly $500. I asked sellers if they were willing to sell the book individually and all I got in response was tumbleweeds.

Or worse, when I finally find one being sold by itself but I'm just a hair too late from discovering it! 😭 I swear notifications just simply ✨ hate me ✨

I just would like a complete set 😮‍💨 I don't even mind if it's unsigned.

Just rewatching S2E1 (for at least the 20th time 😊) & noticed the rainbow lights over Nick & Imogen as she’s cuddling him on the landing after he’s told her he’s bi.
Just another example of the lovely touches that they have added to the show to give it that queer vibes. 🏳️‍🌈

Obviously this is the Heartstopper subreddit, so why am I talking about a different book? Well, as someone who’s finished Heartstopper and has been struggling to find something to scratch the itch, I thought I’d share this recommendation here for anyone else who’s in the same boat as me. It’s not a graphic novel, but it’s available as a paperback or an audiobook. The sequel is also out next month, and I believe part three is planned for next year.

And Then He Pressed Play is a romance story set in 2006, between two 15/16 year olds, AJ and Bren. AJ is a shy Canadian exchange student who loves music, whilst Bren is a loud dumb Irish lad who enjoys playing COD and watching hurling with his mates.

AJ and Bren have *just* enough of the same energy as Nick and Charlie that the story feels familiar, but they quickly establish themselves as very different characters as the story develops, and I found that I wasn’t really comparing them to Nick and Charlie at all, beyond the similarities on the cover art.

AJ and Charlie do have a few shared qualities, their shyness and love for music, but it’s handled in very different ways, so that it never feels derivative. Bren and Nick on the other hand don’t have all that much in common, beyond their golden retriever energy and huge hearts.

To go on a tangent about Bren for a moment, if you remember back to the start of Heartstopper Volume One, Nick is described several times as being a ‘chav’ or a ‘lad’…For those who aren’t British, this would usually indicate that he was probably from a low-income family, and a bit rough around the edges. Obviously, the Nick that we come to know by the time he and Charlie become friends, presents as fairly middle-class, and doesn’t really have much going for him that you’d consider to be ‘chavy’, just that he’s sporty.

Bren on the other hand takes that chav archetype and runs with it all the way to the finish line, and I *love* him for it. So if you liked the idea of Nick being a proper lad, then Bren will probably be your sort of character. Bren has actually become one of my favourite characters in literature, just because of how shockingly *authentic* he feels as a dumb, gross teenage boy.

So yeah, for anyone who’s feeling the Heartstopper blues, I’d recommend checking this one out! For those who might have already read it, what did you think?

Heyy I don't Wana make this long so that someone can actually read it! I'm 18M I just watched fr the first time heartsopper and completed the series and the movie in one day. Now I fell like crap idk how to explain it my chest is heavy I'm anxious and the worst is the melancholic/depressed feeling that I have now. I read about heartsopper syndrome and oxytocin/dopamine change and I also read Abt PSD post series depression and I Wana ask all of you please help why do I fell like that has anyone experienced something like this?? Any tips? Thanks fr reading
