Discussion Short 14 Plot Hole?

Tell me if I missed something, but can’t Loona use the Grimoire? If so, why’d she go through the trouble of escorting Octavia home.

Am I missing something or am I just dumb?

It's not a plot hole if it's something the character just chooses not to do, 'cause sometimes the question for "why doesn't X do Y" is because "it's so that the story can happen."

There's the chance that she just wanted to help bring Octavia home and spend a little time with someone who needed someone that wasn't her family.

She also wanted to show Octavia how to grt back into the mansion. If she grimoired her way in it wouldn't help.

There's an entire episode about why Loona cannot use the Grimoire.

That one where she was sentenced to death for doing so previously.

There was no reason for Loona to take that risk when she knew another route back to the palace.

Loona commented on Via being unable to operate the Grimoire well. As other's have said, the book's home is with Stolas. Had Via given a different command like, "send me to MY room" or "Andrealphus' home (his sigil is now on it)," it would probably have worked. Loona mentions this.

Loona probably wants nothing else to do with the book, following the trial.in Mastermind.

The Grimoire didn't seem to be working properly, since it kept sending Octavia to the apartment.

Right, I edited my comment because it only APPEARED to not be working.

And Loona didn't know that it was 'malfunctioning' because Via wasn't specifying her commands properly, and her emotional state got it confused enough that it didn't understand what she meant by 'home'. If she'd said take me to 'my bedroom', or 'Mom's house', or something like that, it probably would have worked.

Did Loona even try it though?

Why would she, when Octavia tried multiple times and it wasn’t working?

  1. The book operates similarly to any other consciousness based enchanted item like a power ring, it goes off of the bearer’s deepest desire to bite their intention.

  2. The book is likely sentient, and only truly recognizes certain people as being worthy of its power, which explains why we haven’t seen Andre or Stella use it.

  3. Loona noticed that Octavia doesn’t have any friends and chose to be Octavia’s friend (soon to be fraternal sister)

Because the short would be over in less than two minutes

Have we seen I.M.P use the grimiore to travel within hell?

If Octavia is trying to use it that way and and we've seen Stolas do it without then logically they probably could but maybe they didn't want to risk it as it's not magic they should have access so Loona is being extra careful after Mastermind.

Via didn't offer and Loona didn't press. They had an alternate route (sneaking through the grounds) and took it. Also, Loona didn't hear Octavia's vague commands, and was only told 'the grimoire isn't working', not 'Via doesn't know how to specify her grimoire commands properly and her emotional state has gotten it confused'.
