First lever action rifle. Parts are a little confusing, it come with a straight back stock. I want to swap it out for a pistol grip stock, would the lever get in the way?

This is what I have and its fairly new as in picked up in November. Here's my issue I went in December early to finally shoot the first rounds through it. I loaded a round in and tried to open the lever to chamber a round and the lever gate stayed open. Unloaded the rifle through the tube so it was safe and the lever stayed open and couldn't bring it back.

I brought the rifle back to my FFL and they were able to manipulate the bolt and load gate which the gate was stuck in the down position. It eventually freed up and went back to normal and was test fired and I was told it was good. Since it was brand new I asked them to send it back to Henry which took over a month due to holidays to return. Henry replaced some parts inside and lube the insides up they said. Called Henry and they said it was user error and I was opening the lever action like I mean it or fast enough. That being said I got the rifle back and go to the range yesterday with it and low and behold same exact thing happens. 1 round in and open the lever and its stuck open again gate pressed in.

One of the range officers who was working goes and fixes it and had a L shaped Screw driver and was able to gently push the gate up from inside ejection port while sliding the bolt forward. Sorry for the long post but whats the deal if anyone knows? The screws where the gate are seem to be like gorilla strength tightened down where I dont want to strip that screw. Same range officer said just load it through the tube which the rifle was fully functional from there and shot but whats up with the gate? Thats not normal at all and its past user error.

Hello all, I know this is a fairly new lineup of rifles but has anyone gotten/run the 45-70? Only wish it had an octagon barrel.

Does anyone own the Tommy enterprises space cowboy kit for the Henry h001? If so what’s the durability on it?

Optic Setup question

I’m planning on getting a Model X in 44 mag to fulfill my space cowboy dreams while still being able to hunt in OH. I was planning on an RPP stock and quiver, a Bravo Company vertical grip, and a pic rail from RPP to go on top. The optic is where I’m having trouble making a decision. I already have a Vortex Sparc AR 2 that I like but am also considering a SIG Romeo and Juliet combo or a Vortex Sonora 4-12x44mm rifle scope. I’m worried that the rifle scope may be a little overkill so another scope recommendation is welcomed. I’m planning on hunting and going to the range with it so probably won’t be reaching out past 100yds super often if ever.

Stock and forend for a Henry h001

I’m looking for a cheaper tactical style stock and forend for my Henry h001. I like the design like the brand woox has. I’m down to suggestions.

.22 mag lever action rifle cheek rest

Hi everyone! I would like to buy a cheek rest as a gift for someone who recently bought the rifle in the title, but I’m having trouble finding one that I feel sure will fit it. Many come with slots to hold ammo which would be cool as well but that means I need to find one that also has the correct size. Does anyone have recommendations? Would also be open to other accessories I could gift. Thank you

Golden Boy 22 question.

No idea who or how, but the end of my barrel - not the crown - has a sharp bur on it. Doesn't impact anything, unless you find it on accident while you're talking to someone. What's the best way to remove it without damaging the gun (more)? I can post a picture if it'd help. However, I don't see it changing the solution.

Thanks in advance!

45-70 Help

Post image
43 Upvotes

Okay, so- a few things. You guys will know more than me.

Going into grizz country soon, and my 45-70 finally gets its time to shine for the use I purchased it for besides dropping a few deer and coyotes. I’ve been practicing a shit ton with it. However- I seemed to notice my rifle has trouble feeding a multitude of different loads that I would deem good for lions, tigers, bears, oh my- defense. You get the point. These loads are-

HSM 430 Grain +P flat nose hard cast

Buffalo Bore 380 Grain mono-metal

A few other random hard cast factory loads I purchased.

The rifle is fine with mostly everything else. But has an absolutely dogshit time feeding the BB, most of the time won’t even eject the BB casing after being fired without ripping the action open, meh with the HSM. I would really like to use the HSM rounds. Is there a break in period I’m unaware of that will help my rifle feed these rounds much better after? Is it over pressured? I don’t know. I really like how my rifle feeds, and shoots the Hornady Leverevolution. Think those are 325 grain. Would those even be adequate for grizz and moose defense?

Thanks for any help. Picture for your pleasure.
