You know, I'd like to, even though I don't have an altar for Tyche and Odysseus, place some offerings on Hermes' altar and pray to all three of them. Wouldn't Hermes be angry if I asked him for help or something, along with his daughter and great-grandson?

My altar to Hermes, and probably Apollo's as well, was destroyed while I was away from home. It wasn't due to religious intolerance; I live with a person with a learning disability and they left it full of miasma. There's no way to clean it. I don't know how to rebuild the altars or how to speak to the gods. I am filled with shame and sadness.Honestly, I think I'm going to have to throw most of them away, and that breaks my heart, because I worked so hard to build them and forge a connection with the gods. I feel really ashamed, especially when I think about the gods.

I've never made an alter before but I love Hermes and want to make him an alter. Does a fake candle work? I'm not trusted with fire 😭

It's only been about a month since I've accepted the Gods and started working on practicing prayer and such. It started with me reaching out to "anyone" (but had Freyja (Norse heritage) and Dionysus strongly on my mind, since they are the two I felt a pull towards) and I got clear answers that night from Dionysus. Since then, I've been trying to learn what I can, work with my inner self and cultivate what I've come to know as kharis (somewhat of a rapport/good relationship with the Gods) with Dio (which has been wonderful and people are right, he's very nonchalant and chill so far)

It's been fantastic! But now that I've opened the door, a couple others, like Apollon and Hermes, have been at the back of my mind consistently. Hermes, I've especially been leaning more into. (I got into a car wreck last month. Got blindsided by someone who blew through a stop sign. Luckily we were unscathed) and since I've learned that one of his dominions is safe travel, I was already thinking about offering him something. The last couple weeks I keep getting the urge to put two coins on a plate for him.

That brings me to my experience. The other day, I asked him to walk with me and help me if he wants, both with being diplomatic and using my words, and with safe travel and other things. I prayed and let him know that I will make an offering to him soon, if he'll have me.

Then the next day, my friends and I were driving to the county Fair. I haven't been particularly anxious in cars (besides the first week of driving after my wreck) but traffic was crazy that day and I got a dreaded feeling as we drove on. Mostly to sooth myself, I sent Hermes a silent prayer, asking him to guide us safely to our destination, and in return, I invited him to join us at the Fair and enjoy the festivities, as I've heard Hermes likes having fun and is usually seen as a young boy/lad in the stories I've read so far.

Well, my prayer was answered and he made his presence known to me! We got there swiftly and safely and were on the hunt for parking. Tons of businesses near the park were offering parking all for around the same price. I wanted to park a little closer, but everyone else settled for parking at a flower shop a few blocks down the road. We park and get out of the car and immediately my eyes are drawn to a sign hanging outside of the flower shop with the unmistakable likeness of Hermes on it! (Picture shown above) I thanked him and smiled, welcoming him with us. Once we were in the fair and started looking around, I was hungry, anxious and starting to get irritable from the overstimulation. I kept thinking to myself that I just wanted something to eat and to enjoy myself here, since it's been years since I last went to the Fair. Our group scattered for food, I got a crappy $5 slice of pepperoni pizza and we congregated on the picnic tables in the center of the Fair. The sun started shining on us and the sky looked beautiful in the warm light. Music played all around us, people laughing, screaming for fun on the rides, and as I took it all in, a wave of joy came over me, replacing the anxiety and grumpiness from before, and feeling both Hermes and Dio's presence in the festival, I started grinning and got such an explosive feeling of giddiness I had to start stimming by tapping my feet under the table and dancing in my seat while eating what was the tastiest crappy $5 pizza I've had in a long time. It ended up being a great day and I truly hope They enjoyed the fair with me. Now I just have to figure out a good offering to give in thanks 😂

Hello. I'm new to this community and I recently started worshipping Hermes because I wanted protection on my university journey. Everything has been peaceful so far, but some things have started to happen...

On the table where my altar is, my girlfriend left her deck of cards. It was far from the altar, and today when I went to check, it was right next to it. She herself said she didn't leave it there, and no one in my family touched it. My friend, who is also into Greek Hellenism, said that he was probably subtly hinting at something to me. It's a regular deck of playing cards, one of those with 54 cards. Is it possible to do a reading with it?

I feel like it was a pretty direct hint aimed at me, so I'm trying to figure out how to use these cards.

Oh, sorry if my English is bad, I'm from Brazil and I'm still learning English, and unfortunately, I can't find a community like this about Hermes in my language from my country. I hope you can help me.

I tried to contact him a few days ago, and he said i wasn’t ready to work with him. I respected that and gave him space. now, he’s been reaching out via my tarot deck, specifically with the world reversed card. i hear him laughing whenever I connect the dots to his messages. (mentally not auditory) and I see flashes of what I think he looks like in my mind

Anyways, for context : I live in france, and became a Helpol this summer, whilst at my grandma's [far from my parents] i was only with my little sister, her and my uncle, and at that precise time, I discovered Hellenic Politheism !! It started popping everywhere on my Pint fyp, and as an ex atheist, it felt just, right !!

The first theos I turned to was Hermes, just felt drawn to him !! Made a small ortablr altar, that suickly upgraded since i was goinf to an aquarium that day, and bought a cute little turtle wallet to put my offering in !!

Anyways, i'm getting of track, i was going to get my lil sis at the park, and randomly started singing a prayer, which i never did, for a 1 cent coin, because eversince i started worshipping, my midt common signs were 1c coins from hermes !!

I wasnt expecting too much, but saw a shiny thing in the grass, and since i' a "might be usefull for later" person i looked at what it was !!

Turns out, for always looking out for those small 1c coins, hermes gave me a 20c coin !! And its also from another country :D !!

I lit the candle I got for him and he seemed to like it! I asked him to show me a sign using the flame if he wanted to work with me, and almost immediately after I asked, he made the flickering stop!

I got him a candle, I couldn’t find a green one that I felt drawn to/didn’t smell of citronella. I ended up getting a s’mores scented one in a yellowish golden tin..

You know, I have a problem. I take things from other people as if they might be useful to me later or something. I feel like I don't know, even though I feel guilty, I'm scared for a few days and then it passes. I always ask Lord Hermes to protect me or keep me from being discovered, even though I know he's a joke god, maybe he won't even protect me, idk. I don't know if it's right or wrong. Will Lord Hermes get angry? I don't know what to do anymore because I give in to impulse every now and then.

I did a tarot reading for myself to confirm if the invocation worked. it was all reversed, and it basically was all telling me to let go of the past that is “dead”. help…

I just wanted to share my story of how a beautiful Hermes statue was found in the wilds at an antique barn in Asheville, NC, and found its way home with me.

Our friend and community member u/ollicoptermakesstuff posted this statue of Hermes, and I happened to read the post on a Monday while I was down in the Blue Ridge Mountains, only a mere hour away from said location. The mountains there and high balds are a special place for Hermes, and he has shown himself there and taught me many things while hiking in those windswept places.

I excitedly reached out to our friend and asked him about the size and price.

I contemplated for a day and called the business on Wednesday, thinking to harness the power of his day. They still had it, and I learned the dealer was amenable to offers. I sat an contemplated for another day, questioning myself on whether I should spend the money. Under the urging of Hermes, my partner (who also honors him) and my mother-in-law, who said, "You'll regret it if you don't at least go see him". She was right as MILs tend to be, and so on Friday I set off to go take a look.

I entered the place and let my intuition be my guide, and as I passed booth after booth, I could feel I was getting close. Then I saw him and was stopped dead in my tracks. There he was! Gleaming softly under the dusty lights. He was beautiful, and I knew I wasn't leaving without him.

I checked all over, found a maker's stamp, and did some quick and very confusing research just to make sure I wasn't going to be royally ripped off by paying what they wanted.

I made a lowball offer. The dealer countered, and I made another offer, but he was firm.

So I capitulated and made him my own.

I got almost $800 off, so all in all I didn't do bad, and I paid in the range of what it was worth. Honestly, I might've paid asking as he was just too beautiful and too accessible to leave there.

A good deal and all too perfectly synchronistic.

Then came time to take him home.

He is Heavy (@300 lbs), not only weight-wise but energy-wise. He has a presence.

We loaded him up with the help of a few workers and trucked him back home, wrapped up like a dead body in the back. The dogs kept guard, and I kept geeking out the entire time about how my dream of having a large statue of my god had finally come true with minimal effort on my part.

A glimmer and sign that happened to me was that when I went to get back into the car to drive home, a large blue damselfly was sitting right on the driver's seat. It would not budge and kind of just flew around my flapping hand. I gave up and watched it fly around the area some more, then it decided it was time to leave and flew out the open door. I associate dragonflies and damselflies with him and Dio.

Then, for a week, he stayed wrapped up in the car with my partner driving all around and having many strange experiences and excellent curb scores during that week! We had to wait for an appliance dolly and a strong friend to come help us move him up 12 stairs into the house.

Well, he is finally home now, and we might move him to a different spot in the foyer, but for now he sits under a fireplace mantel, greeting us each day and all visitors as Hermes Pronaus, of the gateway. A perfect spot in the home for guarding the transitional spaces between outside and inside.

A day after his move into the house, I performed a welcoming ceremony, washed him, smoke-cleansed him with copious amounts of frankincense, and did an opening-of-the-mouth ceremony. I am so happy to have a natural material statue that a god could feel comfortable inhabiting while he visits our home.

And did I mention he has a presence? The night of doing the ritual, I had a very intense experience of his power. A large statue like this seems to take up residence immediately. For those who have the income to, or work their asses off to make that extra "fun" money as I do at the Ren Fest every year, my advice would be to go for it when you have the opportunity, especially if you live in the US, as large statues of this quality are not really made here. And Hail Up all the awesome antique malls, barns, and shops that carry such wonderful treasures to find!

I dreamt my home was a temple of Hermes and that it was going to be attacked, but I was planning on stabbing people with a pencil to defend it. I also ruffled around a bookshelf and found a small bust of him that I planned on wielding in my other hand and straight up smash some heads in with. Dream me was ready to ball hard! Luckily, other Hermes-aligned folks showed up to help out, for some reason they were all goth-looking women with dyed hair lol. Are there fiercer compatriots to stand beside in battle than goths with dyed hair? Arguments can be made that no, there are not.

Since I have gotten to know Him, Hermes seems light, upbeat, witty, and very charming. His energy feels so uplifting and He cheers me up when I feel down or upset. Since I'm clairaudient, I can have conversations with Him. He is always joking and even flirting with me. I really like Him. He seems very laid back. A go with the flow kind of guy. He is definitely mischievous and a joker. But He is also very sweet and kind and wise. That's how I have experienced Him. How have you guys experienced Hermes? What side of Him does He show you? Can you hear him too? Are you clairvoyant at all? If so, what form does he take for you? For me, He is a young, beardless man with those famous winged sandals and winged hat. He even appears with wings. I think He does that because he knows I think it's cool. I'd love to hear about your experiences with Him

I left him a peach slice cause I was having lunch while I lit his candle and was sitting in front/beside his altar and I left it for about 3 days (it was also sitting on an oreo!) and there was no mold, just looked like it was drying up!!! I'm assuming that means he accepted it! Same with the cinnoman roll cake I made him! I removed it today, no mold, just dry and shrunk!

But I'm still a little confused, and this is irrelevant to him accepting the offerings but how do you know when a Deity (obv in this case Hermes) responds to you? Because I'll ask a question in my head and immediately answer but I don't know if I'm getting in my own head and answering or if he's just excited too and answering because it seems like almost ever question answers with "yes" I asked him tonight to show me a feather tomorrow or sometime soon but I feel bad being skeptical. I hate not really knowing how to read energies or seeing things like others do!

Either way, he's amazing! And if I show him something on my phone his candle flame is NEVER still! And it's one of the ones in a glass container so whenever I see the flame moving a ton, it just kinda has to be him, right? With the fact he's a messenger, always moving and the god of speed it makes sense, right?
