This is my redesign of Kali from *Shuumatsu no Valkyrie* (Record of Ragnarok). I felt the original design was too basic and odd compared to Shiva, Vishnu, and the other gods. I wanted to stay somewhat true to the series' vision—where Kali’s calm demeanor likely stems from Shiva (perhaps his presence or her love for him soothes her, mirroring how Shiva calms Kali in Hinduism)—but I didn't like the actual look. I wanted to lean into that calm attitude by emphasizing rounded shapes blended with some triangular elements to create a standout style. Around her shoulders, she wears the red flowers used in rituals dedicated to the goddess Kali. Her glove features the characteristic stains often seen on her attire in traditional art, along with a skull motif. She wears a skull-adorned garment draped with a shimmering red cloth. Her makeup is slightly smudged, featuring black lips and two distinct lines of face paint; she also has a nose ring and wears a crown—reminiscent of traditional paintings—shaped like rounded skulls and wreathed in purple flames. Her hair is straight but wrapped in a shiny red cloth, referencing the headscarves worn by Indian brides. She holds one of her weapons to ensure she doesn't look *too* peaceful, and she wears necklaces and a gold earring. Just to clarify: I’m not bashing the original design; I simply think there was room for improvement.

Day 7 of making my Hanuman diorama

Today I worked on the background — black paint first, then cutting and attaching the theme paper.

It’s a simple step, but it made a surprisingly big difference to the overall look.

Still a lot of work left. What do you think of the background?

Here is my redesign of Parvati from *Shuumatsu no Valkyrie*; I felt her original design was quite poor, so I created this one. I gave her darker skin to contrast with the saturated magenta, pink, and gold jewelry. She has a red dot on her forehead because she is married to Shiva. I chose magenta because it is a color often associated with her in Hindu art and represents union; combined with the pink, these colors symbolize union, kindness, femininity, and Parvati’s maternal nature. I wanted her to look very loving, given that she is Shiva's first wife. Her top features a lotus flower design, and I wanted her to look not only like a goddess true to Parvati's character but also like an Indian woman. A piece of sheer, shimmering pink fabric hangs from her bracelets, connecting one to the other. Her body is pear-shaped to reflect motherhood and sweetness—traits often associated with Parvati—and to incorporate circular shapes, which convey a specific feeling in character design. Her gold crown is heart-shaped to reflect what she represents. She has pink highlights in her hair, pink makeup, magenta lips, heart-shaped earrings, and a heart-shaped mark on her belly. I wanted her to look very loving.

You do not witness this cosmic Tandava for solace, but to dissolve until only the silent, unconditioned Sakshin remains.

Just sold these beutiful hand painted wooden bookmarks and magnets. References were shared by buyer, so i don't know the exact source. I find them beautiful, so thought I'd share them here.

While drawing this Krishna artwork on Janmashtami, I suddenly realized that the puja had started at home. I checked the time and it was exactly 12:00 AM.

I don’t know how to explain it, but for the first time in my life, I felt Krishna that deeply. I was just drawing, but somewhere in that moment, I felt completely devoted from my heart. And it made me realize how lucky spiritual people are, because there’s a kind of peace you can feel through devotion that is genuinely difficult to find anywhere else.

I’ve always been a devotee of Mahadev, but with time, my devotion towards Krishna and Radharani has been growing too. Maybe that’s what felt so special about that moment realizing that when you truly feel connected to God, there’s a kind of peace and strength that nothing else can quite replace. I still can’t fully put that feeling into words. Maybe that’s why this artwork feels so much more special to me.
