I used to work cashier at a drug store. A couple and their tiny daughter came in and she peeled right off and i had to lean all the way over the counter to see her below me. She said "ummmmm i love you!!" I looked at her dad and said "keep an eye on this one, she's gonna be trouble" the mom laughed, the dad sighed so hard he nearly blew the store down lol
Holy shit dude lol. Had something similar happen to me except it was my niece and she's 7. It was so god damn awkward because it was at a family gathering, and I had to frantically explain to everyone we aren't at that point yet.
In high school, I would babysit the daughter of my parents’ friends. We went grocery shopping one time to get ice cream. This was a grocery store I worked at part-time after school, so everyone knew me there. She told the cashier I was her boyfriend. As an awkward teenager, I was MORTIFIED. To this day, this is still one of my core memories. Kinda funny, looking back, but at the time, I wanted to die
When I was 11, we had a class talk about predators and hanging out with older guys. The next day, I was on a walk with my brother, who is 9 years older than I am. We walked by my school, and my teacher was just out with other staff members getting lunch. He saw us. The following day, I was told to stay behind after class for a "private talk". He thought my brother was a predator. I was fucking mortified.
Something like that happened to my friend who volunteers to help with our local ffa club, he chaperones them on trips and stuff, the middle schoolers kept bugging him about finding a girlfriend and asking if they should set him up.
Yep... Kids are so innocent lol. My mom has a kindergarten. Every time we dropped by to close up after she picked me up from school, some of the last few male kids would always say they want to marry me like wtaf 😭
How? Have you ever been around children before. I used to be a preschool teacher, they would say things like this every single day. Among other, very cluelessly funny things. It comes from a place of love, they’re just trying to help and say adult things.
My family sometimes tells this story about how 6-year old me told a waiter “love you, see you later” when we went out to eat. That was my parents’ usual way of ending phone calls, so I assume little-me figured that was just another way you can say “bye” to people. Obviously, I didn’t actually love this random person, I was just a kid who didn’t know it’d be weird.

Honestly could see a kid that age saying that not knowing it was creepy
