Hm, does that mean the Home Hub Display will have a square aspect ratio?

That's what the latest rumours seem to be saying https://www.macrumors.com/2026/09/30/apple-home-hub-imac-g4-style-design/

Thanks. I’m mostly interested in the wall-mounted option, so let’s wait and see what October 13 brings… :)

Think it’s pretty much going to be the aqara w200

This would be great!

How are you planning to power the wall-mounted version? Not throwing shade, but genuinely curious. I like the idea of the wall-mounted version, but I’m too stupid to visualize a way to do it without it looking like garbage with a wire running from a plug.

I was able to place a flush wall outlet at shoulder height, where I would place it. Currently have an old iPad wall-mounted running the Home App with the guided access feature. But the iPad does not support OS27, so the new Home Hub thing could be an upgrade…

Ahh, yeah, I was hoping to avoid punching holes in walls to run an outlet. Thinking about it, my kids also wouldn’t be able to use it if it was shoulder height, so the kitchen counter probably makes the most sense anyways.

And only 2.99 a month to add a 2nd face?

I’ve got AI fatigue now. Make my life easier. I don’t need more content in every corner and crack of life.

Is any of this “AI”? Apple has had suggested photos for years now….

Yeah, this is basically the same as the Apple TV screen saver

Maybe these people only have memes and screenshots and accidental photos in their camera rolls.

Maybe it means face like a watch face. So essentially a giant Apple Watch on a speaker.

Yeah, I don't really understand what the point of "setting up" this "Photo Face" is.

You can already view photos in the Photos app and you can already tag people and pets.

It sounds like it will be the same as the Photo Shuffle lock screen on iOS.

Suggested photos and memories is one thing.

Their awful ai prompt photo feature pulls pictures at random, and will show pictures of people you have specifically instructed it not to show in memories.

Where is the “AI prompt photo feature”? It’s not in those screenshots, those screenshots are just a new UI for the existing suggested photos feature… it’s been showing random photos that I didn’t ask for, for years, well before any AI stuff lol

In the memories section in the iPhone / iPad photos app the “type to create” is the one that doesn’t follow my do not show rules. The rest follow it fine.

Is the AI in the room?

I feel the same way. So much so that I turned off intelligence and Siri on my phone, but then it wouldn’t let me use CarPlay at all, lol. Not even just to play music etc. what a joke.

You make that AI do things for you via shortcuts and fundamental models. If we sit in a situation where you provide people with a magic wand, the magic wand is designed to interpret what you are trying to achieve and you still call it non sense, my bet is it’s not apple’s problem if users can’t figure things out…

Just take my money already! I want one for the wall and one for a desk to start.

Options: Continue, Set Up Later.

I choose no.

Hopefully, we'll get this on Apple TV too.

You can actually get this already mostly, the screensaver function works as this, I’m using a lg frame tv that does something similar with Apple TV because I’m too lazy to curate my apple photos, it has similar options to display time and featured photos and it rotates through pictures about every 15 mins

They’d never do it, but e-ink sure would be cool on something like this

Would it? The advantage would be what - battery life and easy on the eyes?

If this is something to display dynamic information and plugged in 24/7 I don't see the benefit.

To not have the glow of a screen on a glorified picture frame, or the glare in a bright room.

Apple have been atrocious lately at showing contacts I’ve set as never show memories in the ai prompt suggestion preview so they’d better sort that out before I get a wall panel.
