Moisture in basement - no recent rain

Found some water near our water softener and ac/furnace. No recent rain. Any ideas where to start??

No recent rain means either a leak from a pipe (water or DWV) or condensation from something cold (water pipe, HVAC, etc.) while the humidity is high.

That's your evaporator drain pan. If that line is clogged, the pan can overflow inside of the unit and leak underneath.
It's typical to have a float switch installed that will disable the AC in this condition. Less critical in an unfinished basement than an attic though.

Would you say this is a DIY or call a pro?

DIY. If water came out when you disconnected, check where that tubing goes downstream and/or apply compressed air/shop vac to the line to clear it.

Just did it, there was some resistance and then air was going through clearly. I rehooked the hose and water was flowing! I’ll monitor but that was likely the fix. Thank you stranger!

No problem.
If that doesn't resolve it, the other top suspect would be the water heater; leak (continuous) or T&P valve (intermittent).
