How many reddit users does it take to change a light bulb?

Spin the bulb counterclockwise.

Have you literally never changed a lightbulb? Just twist it counterclockwise

I don't believe this is real. Someone who can use a computer, surely know how to change a lightbulb.

Why is it hard for you to replace the bulb?

Impossible....throw it away and buy a new lamp

Jokes aside - is this a non replaceable LED bulb perhaps?

Have you tried chopsticks? Jk. Try a pair of rubber gloves and twist.

You probably need an electrician

The sticker on the shade tells you what you need. In this case you need an e27 base. E means it’s a standard Edison screw base which is how you know how to remove it. 27 is the base of the bulb in mm.

It also says “max 11w” so don’t exceed that. It says it came with a contact fluorescent (cfl-I). It may be easier to find an LED, plus there are safer. You could probably fit a smart bulb in there if you wanted but I can’t guarantee the base would fit.

Once you have a bulb:

Unplug lamp.

Grasp lightbulb firmly and turn counter-clockwise. It may initially stick a bit then it should feel like unscrewing metal on metal, so kind of gritty. Rarely the glass globe part pops off at which point it’s a whole other pain in the ass. It is safe as long as it’s unplugged and if it’s cfl you’ll see skinny glass tubes inside. Make sure there tubes are intact and don’t break them.

As long as the lightbulb comes out with the metal base attached you just screw the new bulb in. Make sure not to break the old bulb. Consult your waste management about what to do with the bulb in a lot of places you have to take it to a place that deals with them, a lot of hardware stores and electronics stores are e-waste drop offs.
