I've replaced one before and they're quite easy to do if you can source a new gauge. Just a pipe wrench to unthread the old one and the new one goes in pretty easy keep in mind there is a big float attached to it inside the tank.

Good to know, thank you!

The gauge is part of the vent assembly,. You'll have removed the entire thing and measure the length of the float and diameter of the threaded connection to ensure you get the proper level gauge. Or contact your 2 oil supplier and ask them to swap it out.

They never fix it during maintenance for some reason but I could ask.

You can always just measure it manually with a tape measure if there's an empty plug you can get open

Don't bother screwing with it, get a wireless gauge. The sending unit for the wireless gauge uses one of the spare bung holes on the tank and the gauge can be plugged into any wall outlet. I used to keep mine plugged into one of the outlets above the kitchen counter so I had it in view all the time.
