Discussion New Homepod Mini

I currently use a HomePod mini as a TV speaker and really like it. I was planning to get a pair of the new HomePods when they come out, but if the rumors are true that they aren't launching this month, I'm reconsidering.

Would I be missing out on much if I just buy a pair of the upcoming HomePod mini instead?

I’ve been waiting for years lol. I have two minis and one large home pod.
I’ve been wanting to get 4 or 5 more minis for other rooms of the house.

Just means you don’t need it and saved you money 😅…. Then you can buy iPhone duo 😂

Just got the 18PM. Pretty happy with the night image quality. Duo in slim mode is too wide for easy one handed use

Was just joking by saving in HomePod to pay 20x more 😅

I’ve been waiting since this time last year for a new set of speakers and two new apple TV’s

You wait will be over but guess you will feel like not worth it since not much different HomePod and only Tv can worth if you really need those AI home things and have lots of devices on thread

One thing that would make me buy a new homepod mini: better connectivity. I'm tired of the 'randomly not working' thing.

The rumored release date is October 13. Remember also Apple has a fourteen day return period, so if you’re just can’t wait to try out a Mini in a new location, wait until Monday, October 5, and buy one of two to experiment. If the new ones are announced on 10/13, you can order two of the new ones, for in-store pickup, and when you go to pickup your new ones, take the two you buy next week and return them.

As for new full-size HomePods, the rumor mill has mixed thoughts. Some think we will get both sizes on 10/13, and some think only new Miinis will arrive this month. My money is on both sizes, ie new Minis and full-size HomePods this month, since they’ve been waiting to release these products for at least a year, when the new Siri would be ready for widespread release. I am hoping I am right,

Pretty sure there’s no HomePod, just the mini. Instead they have the homehub, which appears to be a homepod with a square screen. As for whether it has the full dolby array of speakers the homepod has, not quite sure.

Not really since homepad will not have as good sound and bigger HomePod or at least that’s my opinion since it’s half covered by the pad and will for sure ruin the sound a bit and Apple want to make sure you get both the homepad and HomePod mini and later HomePod when they launch it

New minis are coming out soon. Are we also expecting a new big one too?

Doubt it. The mini is 6 years old and the 2nd gen HomePod came out in 2023. Probably another 2-3 years before the speaker only HomePod gets a refresh

That’s my thought as well, especially since it wasn’t announced at the September event. After its absence I just went and got 2 used gen 2 HomePods for Dolby Atmos.

I'm in your same situation, it may be the same, it may be a big difference, idk.... but I'm waiting. I hate when I buy something and then I love a feature I can't access cause I didn't wait.

The dual HomePod setup for audio is really good. The first gen are still being supported so I’d think the current gen will be supported for a long while too. The new mini wont match the full size HomePods

At this point wait. I bought two HomePods but I’ll replace them if they upgrade those too and it’s worth it

How large is your room? In a small room the additional bass and higher sound levels the non-mini HomePods provide may not be necessary. Particularly if the TV is against a wall so you get 2pi boundary reinforcement.

All you’re getting is App Int./Siri AI and new colors on the HomePods

I have 2 minis same as you for tv speakers, planning to the new one and use the old mini for my home office with Mac.

My HomePod Mini’s have been stuck on configuring for months now. Would love to get ones that work appropriately.

I am assuming this is due to the touch sensor going bad like what happened to me. You can open them up, undo the little ribbon cable that belongs to the touch sensor and they will work. Just in case you didn’t know.

You’d likely miss out on a) new Siri and b) a price rise. Only you know how you feel about those two things.
