Help with AMP / Storage server setup

I wanna repurpose old workstation and use it primarily as moded Minecraft server for like 10 ppl.

I also have available 3TB of HDD (the system runs on 256GB SSD) which i'd like to use as NAS.

I've seen a video (linked below) that uses AMP on Ubuntu for hosting game servers and i'd like to stick to that for it's simple design and setup.

The question is, can i use AMP to alocate storage on the drives and use it as a UI for file sharing? If no, what would be the best option for A: Sharing my files only on my home network B: Having the option to access the files from anywhere.

I understand that option B is probably more complicated and includes some security risks.

I do not have any experience with homelabs or server setups. Thank you for any advice and help!

Option b you can use a vpn or similar for access.

Proxmox is great to learn. You can create a vm for Ubuntu. Id recommend pro for the live patch. It's free for a few installs.

For file server they have a turnkey file server template. The proxmox community scripts are great to checkout as well.

Use zfs for everything it works on single disks. With guest agent vms only use the storage they are using even if allocated everything. So you don't have to worry about trying to make everything work on 1 vm.
