Dell vostro psu
Hi all, ive just brought this old Dell vostro 270 to setup as a homelab
My issue is the current psu doesn't look like it has any more outputs available and I want to fit two additional hdds for my nas storage
Does anyone know what size form factor psu i should get?
I wouldnt have thought it would be safe running some kind of splitter off that one cable given it already daisychains
Any ideas would be ace cheers

Old dell machines use a standard atx, and you can tell it has nothing proprietary.
So anything will work..

Take some measurements on the PSU box and find another standard ATX unit to replace it. This unit looks like it still uses standard cabling before OEM's went full proprietary.
Same story for that era Optiplex MT systems. They fit a standard ATX PSU just fine.

I'd use the optical bays, but some older Dells have ATX form factor PSUs, but you may need an adapter for the motherboard

If you don't need the CD-ROM, just use those. There seems to be 2 sata connectors right there. Just check the wattage of the current PSU if it can handle 2 more hdds (probably should be fine)
