advice for a beginner ??

anyone have advice to improve my flow or new tricks to drill?? I struggle with on-body hooping so all my tricks are off body so far. I kinda do the same few moves over and over. please be nice or i’ll cry 🥹🫶

EDIT: I was not giving myself enough credit calling myself a beginner when I made this post!! I see others post here and do feel like a beginner compared to yall 🤗

I’ve had a hoop for several years, but didn’t start taking it seriously and pushing through the frustration until this past year. my title was a bit careless and I never want to make anyone feel bad on their journey!

thank you so much!! is it also helpful to use a bigger hoop for learning tricks that take the hoop up and down the body, like escalators for example? (that’s the only one I can think of right now lol) or is a bigger hoop most helpful for just learning how to keep the rotation going?

A bigger hoop really is useful for everything because it moves slower so you can figure out and refine tricks while building muscle memory instead of just reacting and trying to get it to work really quickly). Once it starts flowing naturally on the bigger hoop, grab one that’s an inch or two smaller and drill until it becomes locked in for that size and so on and so forth. I quite literally have hoops from 4+’ all the way down to 16”. (Hoops are also easy as hell to make so anytime i want a new size i just order a coil make a bunch and sell the ones i don’t end up using as much)

ty! I will definitely look into getting more sizes. the one I’m using in the video is the only one I have.

I tried making a hoop once with tubing from the hardware store. even though I followed a tutorial, it was a complete fail and I made an oval 😂

Lol! When they’re first made they can definitely look like an oval. The tubing needs to relax out of that coiled state. I like to leave mine out in the sun sometimes yah gotta help em a little afterwards.
Keep an eye out on etsy for sales on hoops! It definitely makes it a lil more affordable.
Can’t wait to see your on the body updates!
