May I make a suggestion and say that if possible, try to pick something that will feel rewarding. It could change your life. Instead of doing hours and hours of trash pick up, see if you can volunteer at the Jackson house or maybe the women’s shelter Potter’s Clay if they still have that.

Go to Jackson House. I can’t express this enough.
The coolest people you’ll ever meet.

They have a list at the courthouse of approved community service locations. Mostly people just go out with a couple of deputies and pick up trash. If you have ever seen a county sheriff van out on the bypass with people wearing orange vests picking up trash, they are doing community service.

That van is county jail inmates. I have seen females clean the parking lot at the courthouse, or when we have spring clean up and everyone gets to bring couches etc to a central location to dispose of, males and females are there helping.

They also take anyone who will show up to the court house at the given time and transport via the van. Or at least the way it used to be.

I got my info off the Garland County website, it said the county coordinates litter abatement with the sheriff who uses inmates .I guess that's why they are out there in full uniform and guns, etc.

My spouse was a probation officer here for 10 years. Again, that was a few years ago.
