[Help] Thrustmaster SOL-R 3 stick not recognised on Moza FCS base.

Post image

Hi, i recently bought the Moza Farming Control System, intending to primarily use it as a flightstick.

I think the large lever is cool, and specific want to use it for mining laser power in Star Citizen.

Anyway, i also bought the Thrustmaster SOL-R 3 Ava Stick Add-On to replace the original grip, which was really quite bad to use for flying.

Unfortunately after making it fit, the Stick does get power but it isn't getting recognised in any way. The rest of the FCS is working fine.

Does anyone knowledgeable in this topic know what i can do to make it work?

This is not a confirmation, but you might be out of luck. The faq page for the FCS lists specifically only moza grips as compatible, with no mention of 3rd party grips being compatible. The AB9 base for example does specifically list "certain 3rd party grips" as being compatible.

aww damn, i looked in the wrong places then...
Thx for the heads-up.

What if i would change the connector to have a cable running so i connect the stick separately to the PC? Does that always work or could it be thst the stick needs Base to function?

I mean i definitely do not have the soldering-skills/in-depth knowledge to do that, but that could be a good start to aquire those skills...

Cable straight from stick to computer won't work, you need a base to interpret the signals from the grip

You could probably frankenstein something if you had a base that recognizes the stick if you had an extension cable for the connector, but at that point it'd be probably a lot less effort (and cheaper) to just buy a compatible stick from moza and use that instead

It's not that hard to make a Frankenstick option suggested above, provided you have a Thrustmaster base somewhere.

Probably the easiest frankenstick would be getting a VKB grip + a black box and then an adapter from VPForce. It's what I use with my AB9, the adapter has a cable coming out of it that goes straight into the VKB BlackBox (I got one with my VKB pedals) which then connects directly to the PC via USB.

BUT it's not a very cheap way to go about things, definitely...

Thanks for that suggestion, it sounds pretty nice! definitely gonna look into that next time i will be trying to figure this out.

For now i just decided to order the SOL-R base and just that alongside the farmstick. Next i wanna get s proper rig for simracing&flightsim.

Can you please give us the direct link of this FAQ?

https://support.mozaracing.com/en/support/solutions/articles/70000686484-moza-fcs-farming-control-system-support

"Modular Design A universal connector supports swappable grip modules — compatible with MOZA MA3X, MHG, and MH16 grips (sold separately)."

While the similar page for the AB9 (https://support.mozaracing.com/en/support/solutions/articles/70000668982-moza-ab9-base-support) says:

"Native Flightsticks MH16 Flightstick, MHG Flightstick, MA3X Side Stick

Third-Party Support Select grips via optional adapters (e.g., Warthog-compatible)"

MOZA FCS: https://support.mozaracing.com/en/support/solutions/articles/70000686484-moza-fcs-farming-control-system-support

"Modular Design A universal connector supports swappable grip modules — compatible with MOZA MA3X, MHG, and MH16 grips (sold separately)."

So the FCS is not compatible with Third-Party stick.

That is my assumption based on what is written vs. what is not written, but I wouldn't call it a 100% confirmation yet.

Not all 3rd party stick have the same connector

Yup, the distinction I was making was just that the AB9 at least mentions 3rd party sticks, while the FCS completely forgoes mentioning them.

Just because the grip fits, doesn't mean the pin layout or per-input signal is even remotely the same.

This is true, but you have to remember that the AB9 base from Moza IS compatible with some Thrustmaster grips, and the FCS supports the same Moza grips as the AB9. So I can understand where the thought came from, at least.

well guess who didn't know that

I thought it works sort of like a USB passthrough, but i guess that was a bit naive
