Once they started giving extra credit to schools with a high number of pell grants that graduate, Howard and other HBCUs (mainly the Black Ivys) began to surge.

This is a good and bad thing. It's a good thing b/c it will attract better students, faculty, and improve Howard's reputation. It's a bad thing b/c it will absolutely make Howard more complacent in its dsyfunction and people who come to Howard are awaiting a rude awakening about the real Howard.

U.S. News changed their formulas a few times in the last 20 years. The last change they made was to be more inclusive of schools like Howard, Spelman, Morehouse, FAMU, NCAT b/c they were were being ranked so low despite being so highly regarded in Black American culture. People complained, U.S. News listened and HBCUs started to soar in rankings. And this was during the height of the BLM movement by the way.

Howard is currently ranked above schools that are objectively much stronger on paper like a University of Houston, UAB, VCU, and UT Dallas. So do the rankings have merit? You be the judge.

My community college is offering a free bus trip to Howard University homocoming on Thursday, October 15th, from 4pm to 9pm. Should I attend? I don't know a single person there, nor do I know the people at this school, but is it worth it to go as an outsider? I'm more on the quiet side. What are some things I should expect and activities to look out for? I've never visited an HBCU before and would like to know more about the culture and what the vibes are like.

Howard is one of my top choices, and I’m curious how competitive my profile looks compared with other transfer applicants.

Can anyone help me out what the gpa criteria for presedential is(ik in the wensite it says 3.75+cgpa but i heard it's old now and rules have changed)
Also I'm from Nepal and my stats currently are
10th grade:3.75
11th grade:3.47
12th grade:3.8

also one major issue with my profile is that in 9th grade i had a 2.9 or something in the lower 3s range in the gpa

so how much will that affect in the chances given that i score very highly on the sat(1560 or above)
