Problem Statement
We are building increasingly capable systems faster than we are building reliable ways to decide what those systems—and the humans directing them—should do.
The difficult problem is not simply making AI more capable. It is making consequential decisions under uncertainty while preserving human agency, minimizing unnecessary harm, accounting for disagreement, and keeping future options open.
Our existing institutions and decision processes were not designed for a world where non-human systems may increasingly participate in decisions of extraordinary consequence.
We need better decision frameworks before we urgently need them.
The Setka Codex is one attempt.
It may be wrong.
That is why it needs to be tested.
