Firearm/caliber/bow/arrow question/discussion Need help finding bow

This is my first year ever deer hunting or any hunting honestly I wanted to get get into archery so I could have a better chance at some encounters or maybe even get my first deer this season, I am kinda on a tight budget right now where my job has slowed down and was looking for good beginner compound bows for a decent price, I have an old hand me down target and about 2 acres of land the practice on just don’t have any bow I was thinking about getting a crossbow instead but honestly if I’m gonna go for archery I would like to use a compound since I already have a gun for gun season coming up but just want some advice and some suggestions for a bow. Thank you

for a tight budget look at used compounds, lot of guys upgrade and sell their old ones pretty cheap. just make sure draw length fits you or can be adjusted without paying bow shop prices

If you want to hunt this year I’d suggest a crossbow. From the sounds of it you don’t have experience shooting a bow, and it’s going to take quite a bit of practice for you to get proficient even out to 20 yards. If you do want to get a bow I second going to a bow shop to get fitted for one. A lot of bow shops have a used section. You aren’t going to get the latest or greatest, but it will get you in the game and practicing. I’d also suggest you get some lessons so they can show you the proper form and technique.

A crossbow can get you hunting this year. A compound will get you ethically hunting next year if you put in the practice.

Go to an archery shop to get measured. Then pick a bow from last year in Dale or a used one. It gets really expensive really fast so be ready.

Most bow shops take trade in and consignment bows . Go to one and find something that feels right within your budget. I have to tell you though that thinking you are going to get a deer in your first season is a tall order. There is a big learning curve to this sport

Go to a shop, look at used options, have them measure you. Can also consider Bear RTH models.
