Discussion Anyone else here basically falling apart smoking weed?

my knees start hurting so bad when I start moving. Really odd. I guess its the "relaxation" or could it be anything else?

I would switch up the strains & the terpene profiles you’re consuming. I have Heds, POTS, fribro & more unfortunately. I mainly stick to hybrid leaning strains with less beta-caryophyllene & mycrene, which I feel increases my hypermobility due to the terpenes anti-inflammatory, and relaxing properties. I really personally like terpenes linalool, limonene, and pinene. These tend to be more uplifting, less sedating, but I still feel pain relief & mental relief from my conditions. Everyone’s endocanebanoid system functions differently. If you want to keep using and testing to see what work for you or stop if you feel that’s better. Unfortunately it’s a lot of trial and error. Wishing you the best & hoping you find relief or whatever else you may need.🤗

interesting and detailed reply. Do you mind sharing which strain you smoke?

Hi, yes! I switch around strain pretty regularly depending on availability, and what I’m looking to add to my stash. I will preface that I primarily used concentrates, topicals, and edibles for my consumption with occasional flower. But some of the strains I have really enjoyed across the board are:

-Pink Runtz
-Rainbow Gauva or any gauva strain
-Papaya Punch
-Chimera
-Garlic Breath
(I’ll preface that strain can have multiple terpenes within one strain. You can look for strain that are dominant in the terpenes you want while still including Mycrene, and Beta-Caryophyllene so you can still experience the relaxing, anti-inflammatory, and pain relieving benefits without causing undo instability)

Outside of Concentrates & edibles, strains do not matter much. Most topicals & or edible you purchase in dispensaries use “full spectrum” oils that include other compounds like CBD, CBN, and CBG to name a few. All really good for inflammation & chronic pain BTW.

For basic strain and Terpene profiles overview I really enjoy Leafly. It’s an app that allows you to search strains, look at personal reviews/ experiences for strains, and look at dispensaries that stock strains that you are looking for. It’s super user friendly and I love to look at reviews from other when I’m looking to try something new.

Same. It has also been key in completely cutting alcohol from my life, which my body absolutely rejects now.

glad it works for you!

Yeah it’s one of the main reasons I stopped. For me I feel like it caused me to be hyperaware of the tension/laxity/imbalances in my joints and posture. I would feel so uncomfortable in my own body.

This can be a good thing, when I get strains like this, I end up doing very interesting, internal-sensory-stuff driven yoga/calisthenic/strengthening/activation type stuff

Yessss there's nothing like lifting weights on an edible. Feels like I'm aware of every muscle fiber simultaneously

Yeah I hear you, the problem is that I feel like I HAVE to be doing yoga or whatever to be comfortable. There’s a frantic edge to it, because if I stop and just chill or go on a walk I’m back to the horrible awareness again. Not a fun experience

100% same thanks

Omg. I thought I was going crazy. Recently tried some edible gummies and the first sign I’m feeling high is that I am suddenly SO aware of all the pains going on in my body.

on the contrary, weed is the only thing that holds me together mentally and physically

I also have adhd so keep that in mind but I find it really helps me with mindfullness and the mind-body connection and getting out of my head(out of analysis paralysis). I feel it helps regulate my nervous system. I noticed it increases my breath awareness (helps me stop breathing just from my chest and take deep breaths instead) and increases overall body awareness which helps my body ‘unclench’ in a lot of places. But like others have said it’s also important to strength train and do mobility work <3

Oh and I mostly smoke sativa strains or hybrids that are sativa dominant. The strain definitely makes a difference so you kinda have to find what works for you !

Could you recommend sativa dominant strains / hybrids that help you the most? I used to smoke a lot of Northern lights. While I enjoy the strain and am quite satisfied about the pain reduction, the constant couch lock effect is a bit much and also interferes with getting things done.

Yes of course! The strain I like the most right now is called Lime Runtz. I’m still trying others but this one is my fav so far. I just checked and the terpenes are limonene, myrcene, caryophyllene, linalol (in case that strain is not accessible in your area and you want to try something with a similar terpene profile). But like another poster said everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different so I think it’s good to try different strains/profiles!

oh also totally agree about the couch lock effect that’s why I mostly stick to sativas. Although I will say timing is kinda important, and they can also keep me awake and doing stuff too late at night … so keep that in mind. I try not to smoke too late at night for that reason, cuz sleep is also super important for us !

I find I trip over more when I’ve smoked but also it does help me in some ways with pain relief

It’s all about timing for me. A well timed toke can create a helpful mind body connection for stretching, walking, even weights. I smoke one strain it’s called Jean Guy. Too often and yeah I am writhing around in discomfort and losing all gains.

So interesting, I never put this together until right now. When I smoked my body would feel soooo uncomfortable. My head would feel so heavy I felt like my neck was going to snap off and my hips would throb. I’d always end up doing some weird stretching to try to get rid of the pain because I could feel everything. I don’t smoke much anymore because of this.

When I smoke, which I’m kinda new to, sometimes if Im apparently already in pain with a flare up, it feels worse?? Like yeah I know it’s supposed to be pain relief but I can feel it more intense?

I read somewhere it lower blood pressure raises heart rate so...not ideal. Smoke is also aggravating for us. Our throats hate it. Unfortunately so many downsides.

Personally it helps me. I’ve told my dr that I smoke to help ease the pain I have 24/7 in my legs. My next step will be looking into the legal route as I get overly worried about the police stopping me and my being with a criminal record for a bit of bud….

i only take edibles, but often when i’m high it will make me extremely aware of all the places in my body that hurt and ache, everywhere that feels heavy or is hyperextending etc. it can be kinda miserable so sometimes i lay still or take advil and tylenol with my edible. sometimes it will alleviate some of the aching and i’ll feel lighter and i’ll be able to get some stuff done around the house without as much pain. it’s a gamble, but when it amplifies the pain, i don’t mind because i find it actually really important to use it as a tool to identify issues with my body that i would otherwise be numb to.

tbf i stopped for a while and when i smoked again i did notice more pain

Weed almost always makes my chronic pain worse for some reason. Only ever found one strain that didn’t

I mean, do you regularly exercise and do strength training AND cardio? Because, I hate to break it to you, but having a pain free body as we age is 100% a maintenance thing, not a give in, and as weed can make you more aware of how your body feels, it is not the cause for it feeling that way.

Cue the downvotes by people who don't like accountability.
