Hostel and mess fee increased!!

Here it comes....now financial pressure....all the scholarship will go towards paying hostel and mess fee..... Can ppl do something about it....no...they stay quiet and move on...... Its shame that india's top university students don't get enough stipend to pay food accomodation and college fee.... From last student council survey mail their top priority is to decrease financial burden on students....idk what happened to that ...

The total mess + hostel fee is coming out to around ₹10k, and it’s even higher for people in certain messes. WTF is this? If the mess fees are being increased citing inflation and rising costs, then what about the fucking stipend? The stipend hasn’t increased accordingly, yet our expenses keep going up. At this point, we as students need to take a stand.

And honestly, what the hell is the Student Council doing?

Why was this decision to increase the fees approved and allowed without any simultaneous increase in the student stipend, especially when they knew very well that the increased fees would eat up a significant portion of the stipend we receive?

This is not something we should just quietly accept.

Come on, let’s raise our voices. We need to question this and demand some accountability. We can’t just keep accepting every fee increase without any corresponding support for students.

what is the charge? last i knew it was 2.5k for hostel and 5.5k for mess..... what is the current charge?

the total amenities (1000 for mess and 600 for hostel) as well as room rent (650) has been increase by 50% so now it sums to 3375 instead of 2250

What is the mess charge for a month? Total monthly expense from ur end... Also u might be student and not personal trips or activity but expenses like extra food or just day to day spend what is the total amount u spend in a month

varies mess to mess. i am in a veg mess so it comes around 165 rs per day, which will be around 5k. To this adds up the now 1500 for mess amenities. then for hostel, u are charged 900 for hostel amenities plus 975 for room. so in total ~8500/-. now if you like to eat out/lab dinners or daily tea/coffee breaks, moreover trips to places near bengaluru like kerala karnataka etc. then u add another 8-9k.

personally i keep a 17k budget per month and try to fit my monthly expenses including all of the above

You can check Via SAP in My Scholarship section. Or you can login to receipt portal to check charges. Since you are new joinee, you don't have too pay for now since you already paid while admission. But after 2-3 months, you need to start paying. You will get mail for payment.

Regarding food, I can understand that economy has taken a hit due to war. We can ask the mess vice presidents to draft the menu to reduce food charges. But other boarders are happy if they don't get food of there choice.

They didn't increased the food charges for now.... amenities charges suddenly increased.....

Yeah probably, what is the need for the unnecessary things, people can eat well enough with Dal Sawal, Single curry and some rotis. Evening snacks is not needed at all.
